Does anyone have any opinions about the Trak Shaks? We originally dismissed them, because who wants to cook inside the tent? And they are pretty expensive.
Also having no water set up to the kitchen isn't good - when you are forking out that much money, running water is nice!
But the tent layout seems awesome with 4 little ones. And they seem really robust and easy to set up.
Thoughts?
We have one, but never cook inside the tent. Always lift the kitchen off the tailgate and set it up outside under the awning. Kitchen set up works really well, even the water. We free camp for up to a week and only use water we carry. Have not run out yet as you are always aware how much your using as have to replace each drum as it runs out. On our previous camper we used to run out. Plumbed tank with elec pump was treated like home by the family.
Yes robust, good quality canvas, easy to set up even on my own with masses of space. Is great sleeping up high off the ground. Kids use the retreat as a play room. Have slept 2 families in ours easily. Easy to tow, easy to store, low tow ball weight. Can carry a boat, solar panels or extra gear on the rack.
Do need reasonable space to set up and be relatively flat. I do need some help from my wife to pack it up. Just the folding over of the suitcase and tucking the tent in.
Expensive not in my opinion on deal we did on ours. Prices on some of the used units available can seem high. Only worth what a buyer is willing to pay.
My opinion, go look at one and see for yourself if you have one local and good luck.
