Update
Is this saw any good ? You betcha
Would I buy it again... in a second.
Ran 1 battery flat and recharged it off a 600w inverter in the car in 20 minutes
Cut up a heap of very dry 6" tea tree into 500mm lengths that had been cut down by rangers in a national park that has some beautiful waterfalls
along the ott.
Pruned several trees along the ott for a larger vehicle to get through and numerous smaller lots of fire wood along the way.
The chain now needs touching up a bit to get it back to really sharp
Run time on a battery appears to be similar to my old "stihl" on a tank of fuel
Spare battery and charger fit under the passenger seat with room to spare.
Good Points:- no smell
no fuel to carry
no 2 stroke oil to carry
no noise ( did I mention national parks )
easy to start, just press a button
no hearing protection needed
no tools needed to change bar/chain or adjust tension
Bad Points :- relatively expensive to buy
still have to carry bar oil ( always like to have my bar well oiled)
Summary, for camping and weekend warriors I think this is a great product, for serious firewood collecting a larger conventional saw would be better, I think the 2 smaller batteries rather than 1 large battery will work better because of the fast recharge time of the smaller battery
