I like the new design of the canvas on the back end. That was one of the reasons we bought a KK better design at the back more useable room.

Very new to forum (first post!) but have recently purchased used (a lot) AW 2006 ultra. I am very happy with camper. My family love it. Last week i was at the Maitland show and had a good look at the ultra max and it looks a good bit of gear.  Looking forward to reading owners reviews.

I see comment here on the carrying capacity and the size of front boots. I do think there is huge scope for a design rethink here. When I was looking for a second hand unit for my pending half lap, I looked at AS and KK then stumbled across Cape York Campers. (RIP). It was the load carrying capacity that sold me. Under the bed is huge compared to the other two. It is stepped front to back in 2 sections   At the rear its 500 mm deep, full width of the trailer and 300 mm at the front.
Compared to the slide out tray arrangement of the others I looked at, this won hands down. It also allows for better weight distribution I would think.
As good as the others are, and they are, I think there is room for improvement in this area.

Just an opinion.... But everyone has one, I know. 7 working days and I'm off....ye ha :-)

Been looking at camper trailers for almost a year now ( I was totally new to the market so had a lot of research to do). Had shortlisted the Aussieswag Ultra D but went to check out the Ultra Max at the recent Melbourne 4x4 show and am totally convinced it is the one for us. It ticks all our boxes, I want comfort, hot water, 240V system and room to breathe and my other half wants off-roadabilty, quality construction and ease of putting up as his shoulders give him jip. Its not cheap - we have a quote and hope to put an order in before the end of next month. very exciting!
