Expensive camping

it's far from a modern concept this stuff, i remember going to Hervey Bay 30 years ago as a kid and swimming out to the trampoline they had floating in the ocean for kids to jump on and out into the water off of. there was also paddle boats in the water and not to mention the visit to the outdoor skating rink where they attached roller skates to your shoes with big thick rubber bands.
your shot at people going to these places because they don't want to parent is out of line in my view, we went to one of these places to reward our kids for how well behaved they had been on previous trips to The Gulf, across The Simpson Desert and up to Cape York but to name some of the locations they have been  personally i didn't really enjoy staying where we did that much, but i know my kids absolutely loved the place, so i was happy to pay what was asked at the end of the day.

Not having a shot at you mate or anyone else on here who chooses to stay at caravan parks. We frequent the occasional caravan park and annually at Easter and in my experience it is an unfortunate truth for an ignorant minority... I'm sure we have all witnessed many a case of irresponsible/lazy parenting in caravan parks and other forms of camping.

Hi Lost,

In Oct we stayed at The Nug Nug Reserve near Myrtleford and were the only ones there and loved it, even though the temperature dropped to -3 It was snowing on Mount buffalo at the time though

It`s a very large area with flush toilets, cold showers, about 80 powered sites ( not designated sites ) water and bbqs and a small creek. For those who prefer no facilities there are 2 other small bush camping areas nearby.

It is surrounded by the Mount Buffalo National Park and is 10klms to both Lake buffalo and Myrtleford and a nice trip to Bright or Beechworth.

  We used it as a base for day trips. I don`t know if that`s the kind of place that appeals to you but this might be of interest to someone else.  http://www.nugnugreserve.com.au/fees.html
