A few questions for Battery welding?

Gday all,

I have been looking at making up my own weld kit like others have done however they all seem to have battery terminals to attach the leads to posts.

So I have three questions
1. Can I use 2 x AGM batteries to weld?
2. My two AGM batteries are the bolt in type (no posts) If I crimp on some connectors will this be sufficient?
3. Can I join one AGM and one acid battery in order to weld?

I don’t think I would use two different types of batteries in this manner, but as for using agm batteries for welding, I have no idea.

I'd say if your broken down some where that you need to weld to fix it then what ever you have will suffice, personally I wouldn't give a sh1t what type the batteries were. It's a bit like what oil to take with you when remote. At the end of the day I'll use what ever I have to get me to a town etc. These measures are about getting to help, not worrying about what type of batteries you have.

The only risk I can think of with using different types of batteries is how they will discharge and recover from that. If you lose one battery it's a bugger but if you needed to fix something, then one dead battery is probably a lesser issue.

As long as you've used appropriate cable, how you connect them to the battery is dependant on how you can connect them to the battery, if you get me. What size connectors would you be crimping?

A deep cycle battery is probably going to provide current for long than a cranker.
