King Goanna Chair
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:43:08 PM »
I have noticed that these chairs appear to be quite popular, so I thought I would let everyone know.

If you are in Brisbane, the latest catalogue for Enoggera Camping http://enoggeracamping.com.au/ has this chair currently for $75.

From what I had looked at around the place, this seemed fairly reasonable.

Hi Gmac
You had to post the new price.  I paid a lot more for mine, and at 140+ kg, there are not many camp chairs that take my weight easily.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing a King Goanna, but back when I was 155kg (now 118kg  8))  I had (And still have) a Coleman Bigfoot chair.  It's never looked like buckling and is quite comfortable, everyone keeps stealing it around the camp site (they are comparing to $10 ones though), I ended up buying dad one for Christmas that year.  Also it's a bit higher off the ground than some others which helps at my height.

I will also have a look at the Coleman Bigfoot, as I am looking for another chair.  I would be interested one day to learn how you dropped the weight down, I have gone from 161kg down to 140kg, but having a real battle now.  I have also bought a few different camp chairs, only to have them crash underneath me, the fall wasn't so bad, but the landing was hell.  If you sling me a message at your convenience, I will send my email back, and I can hopefully get some tips on further weight loss.

Sorry for continuing the off-topicness, if anyone wants more information, just message me and I'll be happy to send what details I can (I'm by no means an expert so limited in advice).  Or we could start a myswag weight loss support group thread to discuss this sort of thing.  Wouldn't mind a few extra ideas (and sharing mine) for camp cooking that falls under the diet.

I was 145kg at the end of October last year (155kg was January last year) and 130kg by Christmas, not as quick but I wasn't flogging myself to lose it.  Last few months the weight loss has slowed (xmas and spending a week in Sydney eating pies and chips and drinking beer while watching the Indians get flogged didn't help), but I'm still knocking back the clothing size, just putting on more muscle now than I was before xmas.  I won't go into the full details but I spent a year basically in bed because of chronic fatigue which wrecked me and I'm still recovering.

Basically I'm on a modified version of the Paleo diet (basically just no carbs) and doing Pilates (although had been on this for 6 months before starting the diet and weight loss).

I will take your word for it on the tv show thing, as I have not owned a tv for nearly 30 years, and do not want one.  The kids and grandkids watch their DVD's on the computer, and that is sufficient.

Hi Gronk
Not all that unusual, the wife and I have never really been interested in tv, there was never anything good on it, and we normally go down with the sun, and get up when the sun comes in through the window.  I prefer doing my welding and steel work before the heat of the day, and I own the business, so I work my own hours.  Do you have a brand name for the chairs you are talking about.
