Title: RIP the sedan
Post by: prodigyrf on November 23, 2015, 08:37:49 AM
Something Swaggers would know intuitively-

The dual cab ute and canopy keeps the ATO happy unlike a wagon and what's the difference between a wagon and hatch nowadays.

I sincerely hope they don't roll out that half wit again.  Its been nice and quiet without him spruiking the virtues of a 4WDless world.

Hmmm... Executive Director Harold Scruby- http://www.ausflag.com.au/directors.asp (http://www.ausflag.com.au/directors.asp)
and a right bunch of lefty flangers too.

Perhaps we could all crowdsource a fitting emblem for him-

Harold scrubby is the sole member and chairman of the pedestrian council.

Yep, that's right only one.
But govco likes to use this deadbeat to push through its less palatable laws and draconian punishments.

Old harold is a deadbeat, he is very vocal and hates cars, bikes and everything that gives pleasure to humans, one of which he is not.
I once wrote to him about his obvious lack of understanding when he was demanding more rights for pedestrians, something along the lines of pedestrians have the right to walk wherever they want whenever they want and its up to the drivers to not hit them.

When I pointed out that this was just stupid and that pedestrians should take some responsibility for their own actions, he sent me an email full of hateful tripe, questioning my intelligence, my morals and even my family history.
I listed my qualifications and degrees and explained that I was not unintelligent.
I asked him to tell me his qualifications, he simply continued with his pointless personal attack after which I simply removed him from my email list.
There is no middle ground for this stupid imbecile, he thinks he is omnipotent and never wrong, to challenge his idiotic ideals is tantamount to genocide.

Turns out that this vegetable has inherited some money, set up an office which he calls the pedestrian council, lobbies and prostitutes himself for government funding in return for his ongoing agreement to all manner of revenue raising tools rolled out by our greedy, lazy government.
He walks to work each day (a few blocks in Sydney) and refuses to disclose if he holds a drivers licence.
I chose to believe that he has failed his driving test so many times that he is incapable of intelligent thought and takes it out on normal human beings who can actually pass the test.

Harold scrubby, Id call him a twisted little man, but he is inhuman so he is no man.

he has a license, he had an accident with a pedestrian once... went to court to prove it wasn't his fault - and won....
Scruby's war against cars began in the early 1990s, when as deputy mayor of the affluent Sydney suburb of Mosman, he fought for the introduction of 40km/h zones outside schools. Some critics suggest his interest in the health of pedestrians stretches back to the '80s, when Scruby himself was involved in an accident with a pedestrian. Scruby denies this and notes it was the jogger who was later found to be at fault.

But the question many car marketers, and even those within the ASB, are asking is: is a special interest group taking advantage of the system, and should the ASB and the car code be reformed to take it into account. Doubtless Scruby would say no. But, then, who else is complaining about car ads?

bike riders don't like him either

I hear Sydneysiders have their Clover Moore for the pushy set and no different in Adelaide as they squawk way above their numbers and eat our taxes-

and that's only the half of it as Councils like Prospect squeeze main roads with their ubiquitous bike lanes and beggar thy neighbour policies.

These innocent sounding lobby groups get captured by the warmy catastrophist, vegetarian, vegan, PETA head, self loathers who want us all to be like they are. Was pleasantly surprised when the Gummint decided to let kids ride on the footpath although Gawdelpya if you hit a cyclist now with the 1 and 2 metre rule, whatever they're doing-

The other States gone national with that?

The sedan is well and truly dead. Before the Colorado my previous three cars were all commodores and the wifes was a commodore wagon. My cars were all work cars so could pick what ever I wanted. Whilst I enjoyed driving sedans by myself (all v8's) they were a right pain in the ass travelling with the family. As for the wagon it was good whilst we had two kids(massive cargo area) but when we had three and you found yourself wrestling an uncooperative child into the middle seat ones spine wold find itself in angels it just wasn't meant to go. So now she has an xtrail. Sad to see the local manufactures didn't realise in time the change of consumer preferences. Unfortunately the only option for a large powerful four door sedan will have a German badge and a massive price tag

We haven't had a sedan or any conventional i.e. 2WD vehicle since 1982, something my dear wife occasionally brings up in conversations with other women.
She wants an RS5 Audi convertible  :o I reckon she'd lose her licence in next to no time as she is somewhat leaden footed!

Hahahaha, that's good. My BIL, who is definitely not hairdresser material, has a VW Eos convertible so I'll have to bring these point up in conversation when he's around >:D
Thanks

As an old man, I can tell you convertibles are a no-go.

My bald old head gets seriously sunburned and the Akubra keeps flying off at anything over 20k.
Toupees are useless as they go west and it just looks stupid for an old fart to drive around in a beanie.

Nup, convertibles are for youguns.

Not really relevant to this sedan issue...but...

In Bondi having brekky a few weeks ago... legally parked near the café we were sitting at, this older guy walks up and starts snapping picks of the ute..... "you right there mate?" and this fella answer's in a very broad yank accent that they don't got these back home, used to have one, great idea..... just got trucks now......

Sat and chatted with him and his wife for 30 mins, nice people...not at all like the stereotypical yank tourist....

I've not needed a sedan for a number of years now, on my second ute since all children left home..... Tanya's got a 4 door hatchy thingy... so that fills a need but we use the ute 95% of the time with no issues...

I'm a hoony sort of fella, I like real power and acceleration, not that I do much with it.... so the XR6 fills that and allows the tub which can be locked and also the lid just slips off. Serious offroad ability isn't my thing, this thing has a second set of wheels with higher profile coarser tread tyres and its never needed anymore than this when out in the boon docks.
