So long story short, based on the glowing references and the need for a new BBQ, I snapped up a Weber BabyQ 1200 (high lid/temp gauge) - Mainly this model as I was under the impression it would fit straight into the front boot of the Jayco Swan (2015 Outback)...I went out to pack the new Weber into the camper for a trip away this weekend, and alas - The handle of the Weber protrudes to the extent the front boot will not close ??? ??? - Am I packing it in wrong ? - I've moved it around this way and that, but still can't seem to get it in and the lid closed ??
The boss is not real happy as I may have suggested the Weber based on it fitting straight in :-[ :-[ :-[

Ours lives in a cupboard under the sink (in the xpanda).
Its a jiggle though.
-
Take it back...they're over rated !! ;D

Lol We put our BBQ (not an over rated Webber) in the doorway. Much easier.

Not sure what it ever did to you but ours has been the best bit of kit we brought with us so far 1month into a 7month trip! Bake, roast, pizza & bbq... It's awesome!
Sorry OP... No idea about it not fitting but I'm sure I have read that is where others keep it also. Good luck and it's worth pursuing!!!

Remove the handle and then refit at time of use

Not sure but I think he was taking the piss,
You could always just store inside on the floor, remove it when needed or put it out of the way until you need it....
-
Yep Doorway for us, last in and first out!

Changing from a camper trailer to a crossover/hybrid type I now find that several bulky items now sit on the floor. BBQ, chairs table that are always used just sit inside the door, on the floor. Easy to get out when you arrive and no more unloading from the car or side/front lockers.
-
No idea where to put it but change the drip tray before you do.
-
I bought a big plastic tub from Bunnies, and kept all the weber stuff in it. That slid in the door of the old Coromal PS 421.
That way I didnt have to worry aboug dirty bbq leaving its mark and kept it all together.

Thats good advise from someone who didn't :'(

I sort of was taking the pi**...but I don't own one because I already have a Hot ozi bbq...which cooks most normal things easier than the Webber.....like bacon and eggs...hash browns , sausages, toast, pancakes etc..
I found the ribbed plate a pain on Webbers and other similar brands for the above type cooking ( I know you can get a smooth plate, but that's more money again )
But I'm in the minority because every man and his dog seem to have a Webber !!
One thing about storing things on the floor of a camper or van.....have seen the damage to cupboards and fridges etc from this...not a pretty sight on a $40,000 van !!

What the Webber or the Jayco
-
I agree with Gronk that every Man and his dog now owns a Webber Q as they are the ‘must have’ cool camping accessory. I will admit they do cook very well, but for us they are too big and bulky and take up much needed space, hence why I don’t own one. So until I get blown up, I will keep using my 2 burner gas canister burner.

It hasn't happended to me. KB posted that advice when I was in the buying process.

Bag it with a bag from this lady http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=30053.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=30053.0) and strap it to the gas bottle holder and secure in place with a cable / lock from from this bloke http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=6942.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=6942.0) ;D

Hope you find options that don't require pulling it apart, as that is where I was planning on putting our baby Q when we get our swan.

Maybe you need a midget Q ?? ;D
-
I don't think the OP cares, hes sittin by the river with a beer, his missus pissed off stayed home with the webber q. :D
-
Mine will fit in the front boot of my Expanda (must have a bigger boot than the camper trailers) but if I need to carry other stuff like the EU10 & fuel for example I will put the Weber in the van as I dont want the chance of getting the smell petrol in the van, just make sure you put a new drip tray in it as mentioned earlier.
-
Like others said, just sit it in the doorway. Spend the $50 on the Weber Duffle bag to keep everything clean and yes, clean the drip tray first...

Webers are not designed for this type of cooking so there is no point in having one.
Roasts, steaks, snags and baking are superb once the weber.

Give it to me. Problem solved

No other option
GET RID OF THE JAYCO AND BUY ANOTHER ONE!
You have to keep the webber! It has to have a place!

So, if you have a Webber, and you go camping, you don't have pancakes, bacon, hash browns, eggs or toast ????
That's like saying you don't drink beer, follow footy or have a campfire !!!!
Bloody hell, what's Australia coming to...........I'll just have to retire and have a Latte !! ::) ::)

Pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, brownies, cakes, steak, roasts... You name it, we can cook it on the weber.
Colmano, we don't have room in our boot for our Weber so it sits on the floor, we use the shower pads to protect the floor and sides of the camper during travel.

We have a Baby Q with the high lid and it fits in the front boot of our 2014 Outback Eagle as shown in the pic. It's a neat fit and needs to be held at a slight angle to get it in, but otherwise is simple to get in an out. Perhaps they made the boot smaller in the 2015 models but this would surprise me, given that the dealer made a point of telling me a Baby Q would fit in the Eagle.

Thanks everyone...I managed to fit it in...I think I was a bit fatigued on Thursday night when I posted ;D and panicked!!! - No need to get rid of the Jayco :cup:

That's a relief

Mine goes in the Jayco past the fridge on the floor in one of these bags
http://www.weberbbq.com.au/AccessoryDetails.php?id=112 (http://www.weberbbq.com.au/AccessoryDetails.php?id=112)
that way can get to fridge for pack and unpack on leaving home and arriving back easy as!
-
I bought one of these for the weber. Fantastic for all that stuff you'd normally use a hot plate for.

Yep, it's on the wish list Jim...The Gas Shop @ Jamisontown is the Weber equivalent of a candy store and the boss watches my wallet very closely when I go anywhere near Batt Street ;D

lol yeah I know it, I use the guys at Hawkesbury heating, the gas shop wouldn't match Hawkesbury's 10% off on the first weber purchase and never got back to me on something else so since then Hawkesbury have got 2 webers and umpteen accessories off me.

Dammit, my wife is really not going to let me buy much more - really pushing my luck lately and I really like that duffle bag and frypan...

A simple rule to live by is this.
It's much easier to beg for forgiveness than it is permission. ;D
