Well done mate, their one of the best fridges on the market and Australian made  :cup:  . We had one ordered from the factory many years ago, 60lt, 4in insulation with the volt metre, temp gauge and led low battery light. Top fridge and once that sucker was down to temp it would take ages for it to cycle on again with 4in walls.
We only sold it when we changed our camping gear over to tenting again, we didn't have room for it in the back of the Cruiser  :'(  I'm sorry we ever sold it !!

Cheers

so, what were the reasons for picking this over other established brands?

i like to get real world thought processes for big purchases like this one, as i am yet to get a fridge for camping...

All Trailblazers have a build number inside the motor compartment, this is kept on record at the factory and it lists all the components used in that fridge and it's build date. If you have any problems anywhere in the country you can call the factory with your build number and they can provide the correct parts you may need to exact repairs ( not that too many of them have problems ).

You can also order whatever size and within reason shape fridge you require, their not all the same size and shape like production line fridges, ours had the 4in walls which meant less run time and less battery usage.

And...................their tough, the cabinets are all ally, strong carry handles and the fridge can be optioned with temp gauges, volt gauges, low power led light and freeze switches.
All their fridges are tested in an oven and ( when we bought ours ) had to hold 0 degrees in 40c heat or they failed and were rechecked.

The only drawback if any is their physical size, but that's about the only negative I can see !

Cheers

Are there any independent tests out there that show the improvement (lower power draw) from one of these vs other fridges?
I'm not arguing that they are better - especially the ones with the thick insulation - just curious how much better.
Obviously they have other advantages (build quality/strength) but they are much more expensive.

Cause the trailer doesn't seem to move, the car does, a bit.

Top choice of fridge  :cup:

I recently purchased a Trailblaza bute ute 46L RC special.
I absolutely love how robust it is. It's on the back of the ute out in the elements, no need for transit covers etc etc.

Another great thing about the Bute ute range is that they are not as high as other fridges, so a drop slide is not needed to see inside.

Has a 12 volt meter, temp guage, inside light, hi-lo settings, low voltage led and low voltage cutout, a second thermostat for chilling down extra quick.

Definately worth a look for anyone looking for a new fridge and wanting a premium product.

They look great. .One question though that's sort of related, does anyone know anywhere that you can get a motor or kit to build your own fridge? There's some awsum insulation avaliable today that the big brands don't come close to using.
I've often thought of building my own. Many moons ago I used to build cool rooms and it's pretty easy

Had two Engels and the 1st one worked a treat and the 2nd failed me twice. Only minor issues but when you are in the middle of the territory and she dies, food goes off quickly. Major factor is the Trailblaza is 100 litres and the Engel was 57.

That's a good argument for having multiple fridges, Wayne.

Forgot to mention the other Trailblaza I ordered. This is the 46 litre which is the only size I can fit in the CT fridge box. Unlike one of our other members who had the foresight to have Scoot change the size of the fridgebox when ordering his Aussie Swag.

Hanging out Swogjb for delivery. I didn't order the chequer plate. I got the a brushed aluminium.
Margaret threw in two fridge lights and two low voltage indicator lights. $300 bucks worth. I also ordered the 240 volt option on the big one. A lot of dough but hopefully I will be able to hand them down when I'm too old to travel.

Yeah mate..... Not cheap.... But as always you get what you pay for.

I got the 240v option with ours as well.
You will be able to use the 240v converter on both your trailblazas.

Top choice of fridge/fridges  :cup:

I am and have been a Trailblazer fridge believer/lover/user/owner for a bloody long time.

Firstly I must admit that my Trailblazer fridge is now not working, but that is no fault of the manufactures , it is my fault. I made a rookie error when changing out a plug and fitting an Anderson plug, I somehow did not take enough care when making up the plug and reversed the polarities, and by doing this I have buggered up the compressor on my fridge when I powered it up. :'(

Now that is out of the way, I will tell my tale.

I was first introduced to the Trailblazer fridges in the early 80"s by a Telecom tower builder.

Telecom as it was known then, had done extensive research on portable 12 volt fridges. This was during the time when Telecom were building phone towers all across Australia, and their workers needed to be able to stay out in the wilderness for long extended periods of time, camping at the tower sites during the building phase.

They , (Telecom), tested all of the then popular camp fridges and over  a period of time they , (Telecom), found that the Trailblaizer fridge was the only fridge that would stand up to the punishment that the crews and the harsh environment could throw at them.

We as a family own three ( 3 ) Trailblazer Fridges, my father bought his , 60 litre, in the mid eighties, my brother bought his, (a second hand 70 litre ) in the late eighties and mine a 80 ltre was bought new in 1988.

30 plus years usage from these Trailblazer Fridges is why I am a big fan of them, you get what you pay for.

I have just , yesterday, taken deliver of a new replacement fridge for my buggered Trailblazer , an EvaKool IB100 Dual Zone Portable fridge/freezer. Will it last as long as my old Trailblazer, I doubt it. I will get the Trailblazer repaired and have a second fridge as backup on long trips away.

cheers duggie.

Well I think that if our boys in camo use them around the world, then its good enuf for me. I will use the 95 litre at home as well hence the 240 volt option. ;D

D4D hooked her up to the power and she hummed all night long. 12.4v yesterday arvo and this morning 12.4v. Unlike the aldi fridge 12.4 at night and 10.5 the next morning. DOH!
Now to hook up the 46 litre.

Glad to hear #1 fridge is working.

Let me know when you're not working and I'll drop around and check out the camper to get #2 fridge going.

In that case I will order the cable and might order a bit more and also pick up two hella plugs. One plug to fit into exsisting socket on outside of ct and another for the fridge box. Do i need some battery lugs?

Great choice of fridge.I've had my 60 litre for at least 15 years and it lives in the elements on the back of the ute. They may not be pretty enough to some, but for me the solid build and decent insulation wins hands down. Believe they are used in the armed personal carriers and have been in the Armed Forces for quite a while. A great Australian business building a quality product that should be supported and promoted wherever possible.
Luke.
