This bird has decided to call the building site home, just wondering what type if it accurately and what could be done to help find an owner. It has a blue ring around one leg with "Kelly 15" on it

Try calling local vet's as people usually start looking there for lost pets.
-
and if a quiet enquiry doesn't reveal an owner, I'd be looking on Gumtree for a cage. Nice bird, great pet.

theres a cheap shop near home that has full sized cages cheap if ya need!
-
If it's not sick or injured, why dose it need to be caged ? Enjoy it for what
it is and leave it for others to have the same experience.
Nice looking bird, thanks for sharing.
-
Looks like a Rainbow Lorikeet... but the colours are darker than normal...
Looks friendly enough...

coz if he is still in Box Hill working, it will become a #5 with rice.

Not at Box Hill at the moment Lost, job is on hold, closer to the city in Nth Melbourne. He is as tame as, if you walk out of the office he flys after you and lands on your shoulder

im nearly positive its a conure, not sure of the exact name but in process of finding out. watch this space.
-
I think it's a juvenile Lorikeet. Ive only seen Golden Conures, but this looks like a native species.

Jules......having owned lorikeets as pets before the top of the beak looks too wide and overall it looks too long imo
-
Its a red bellied, blue neck, golden crested speewa parrot!
Mutant form of something ???
-
i reckon its this one Jules ............Blue-throated Conure (Pyrrhura cruentata)
-
I'd say you were pretty spot on there...
-
Just took it down to the local vet, hopefully they can find the owner of the bird, they had no idea of species
A couple of other shots for the bird lovers

Watch the keyboard on the laptop ;D , Might need a clean afterward.
-
if not claimed in a few days you get to keep it?
Would be sweet
-
put the two pics together.
i reckon the one you have GG is a young bird, probably why he is so tame and friendly.
-
Nice bird, it's amazing that he somehow escaped his owners.
-
If it's tame then it's been hand raised. Someone will definitely be looking for it. Personally, the local vet isn't your best Lost & Found for animals. Head to the RSPCA website pronto and list it as Found.

I believe you're correct Mark.
-
Give the recent fires in Melbourne I would suggest it may have flown a fair distance from home
-
its an emu -

GG,If that bird bonds with you , you've got a camping mate for the next twenty years

I agree with Navara04 looks like a Blue-throated Conure (Ochre-marked Parakeet).
Native of the rain forests in Brasil.
Classed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to forrest degradation
Value around $500.
Make awesome pets & its not native to AU.
Pity your so far away I've got the perfect cage, a few years ago we had a Nanday Conure.
Amazingly he suddenly got super powers and bit his cage lock off when we were at the hospital.
"Theres no way it was the workers out side our back fence that day"...so their boss said >:(

I think that may be possible, its tail feathers were a little strange, looked like heat had been to blame.
