Post by: CRW on April 26, 2012, 07:36:29 PM
Hi Guys

Just shopping around for Tyres for the 200 series Landcruiser and Camper in Sydney

Size 285/70/17 BFG All Terrains

Price at Bob Jane at Hornsby for 4 tyres, fitted and Balanced $460.00 each
Price at ST George tyre service at Arncliffe $380 each, fitted and balanced and delivered

Tried the Local tyre power store in Dural, answer 4 weeks ago, Boss is busy, he will ring you back within the hour, burnt down two days ago, Ummm

All tyres brand new and asked for rims as well, which is why St george price is delivered, price was for tyres only,

Pays to shop around

Cheers

Carl

You should look at tirerack.com - well worth it.

Slighty off topic for a sec................

What a bugger about the fire, I have always used 4sport for all my servicing and repairs.  :'( :'( :'(
Hope they get back on track real soon.

Now back to the topic............
I live in the hills and always use Tyre King on Windsor road in Baulkham Hills.
They have always given me a good price.
I did go elsewhere once for a better deal and ended up with some shonky knock off BFG's.............Not happy but thats anothr thread.....

It certainly is worth shopping around,  but sometime the best price is not your best answer.....

Cheers

I rang Tyre King this morning for some BFG Muddies, 285/70R17 $474 per tyre! Even the cheapest 17" muddy was $400. My mate is prepared to do a set of Maxxis Buckshots for cost $380, delivered not fitted.

I got a quote at the Windsor place he was the cheapest on 285/70/17, but didn't have any in stock. I ended up getting them from dobsons in parra (I think that was the name) for 389 a tyre fitted. And he had them in stock.

A 17" tyre at that price? Even 16" tyres are hard to get that cheaply.

I rang him, 16" was mid three hundreds, but 17" in AT or KM2 was over $450, and he told me that all the 17" tyres were within $10 or $20. Nice bloke on the phone.

265x75x16 in Bundaberg, I paid 4 months ago 380 each fitted BF AT's, Due to the mining boom in and around smallish towns for interest sakes I got a quote in Moura same tyres fitted and balanced were 450 each I was told that that was the price due to transportation costs. I can't help but wonder if the price was based on the line up of 8 mines vehicles waiting to have tyres fitted. Definitely worth shopping around in Country Queensland and only getting quotes on the coast.

I got my (4) BFG A/T 265/65/17 with the free Bushranger Air Max compressor deal @ $320 ea from Bob Jane. I would expect that the 285's would be a lot dearer.

I'm up to 86,000km on my current set of BFG's so far. I'll hang on to a couple as spares for the CT.

Managed to score 5  BFG 285X75X16 muds off EBay for $229 that have about 25K each left on them.
Was at Tyre King a couple of days ago getting one put on a rim. Too scared to ask the current price for new ones.
Last time I paid for new one in Newman, WA about two years ago was $350 cash fitted.  :D
