Does anyone used or have used Oztents king goanna camp chairs?
We are looking to upgrade our existing chairs and like the look of them.
-
Lost reckons they are the cats pyjamas.
I tried to find them but ended up with Outdoor Connection chairs with adjustable lumbar support, and have been happy enough with them. But I doubt whether I can ever be truly comfortable in them no matter how relaxed I get, because I'll always have that niggling thought that maybe I'd be happier in a King Goanna chair... damn you, Lost!

We have a couple that are a few years old. We particularly like the lumbar support which you don't get with a lot of that style of chairs. The only thing that has gone wrong with them is the rubber rings at the front of the seat where the pole from the arm rest passes through the seat. These have all split and are coming out. This looks a bit bigger and square on the current model on their website http://au.oztent.com/products/viewProduct.asp?productid=158 (http://au.oztent.com/products/viewProduct.asp?productid=158) so hopefully they will last longer. Doesn't seem to be affecting the performance of the chairs at this stage anyway.

x googolplex. Love em, have 2 now. Got them from Ebay.
http://au.oztent.com/ and find your local store... there arent many places in Melb that stock them, but they have a supplier in Ringwood... :)
Might be the same in Qld.

Best and only camp chair I will sit in. I have lower back problems and the lumber support really helps.

Another vote for the King Goanna, had mine for about 4 years now and if I broke it tomorrow it would be replaced with another, once you've had one, sitting in anything else just doesn't cut it. :cup:

GG, you can get em for ~$99 pickup for the king in Ringwood, or 10 mins from work for me if you need.
but you need to call the chick and arrange it..

Call and find your local store or supplier.

The chairs look great but,
..... can anyone describe/measure how big they are folded up.
do you need an extra roof rack basket just for the chairs??
also:
Is it a retail outlet in Ringwood I can just go and look at Lost ?? or do I need to ring HQ for the secret handshake etc.

The chick is like a supplier or something, but you can test fart on them.
No need for rack, mine fit in the trailer nicely. now the kids want one each :( told them to start saving their coin, but they always manage to steal mine... little turds

They certainly look the goods Bruce. Saw one recently out bush and with all the harnesses I asked the bloke whether you had to strap yourself into the chair before a looooong fireside session. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I love these chairs, they suit me as I'm big. My wife is quite small and she finds that her feet don't touch the ground easily. Something to consider.
They are not compact so you will need to see if you have space to pack them.
Great chairs

For what they look like set up they fold down quite compact. At a guess I would say our's are about 10-12cm x 10-12cm x 1m when they are in their bags

I went ballistic with the wallet last year at the Sydney camping show, bought 2 x Oztent King Goanna chairs and also bought 2 x large heavy duty king single camp stretchers. I have an Oztent RV5 with the zip on rooms etc so I do have alot of Oztent products.
I had a defect with some poles / ropes and showed them at te show, they replaced it immediately no questions asked, so I believe they stand by their product and are true to their word.
I would have no hesitations in recommending any of the Oztent products, they are a great company to deal with.
Cheers

Great chairs
I'm in the same boat Alan, SWMBO is only 5'2" and I"m 6'. The chairs that we have now are a similar size packed to the king goanna so space wont be a problem. Thanks everyone for feed back, I,m going to order two today.

I wouldn't swap mine for any other chair. Hubby has a King Kokoda - the only difference being hard metal arms rather than soft ones like in the King Goanna. I find he tries to pinch mine if i get out of it! >:(

Thank-you Lost, I'll phone for the secret handshake ;D (or wait for a show) also Alan Loy, earle, and Pete_R for the sizes.
They seem pretty good chairs and almost meet my requirements for a good chair. Price is OK since I've wasted more than that of cheap crap chairs over the years that generally last less than a year.
I prefer cloth covered hard armrests to the soft cloth ones but would never buy the bare metal hard arms (too hot when left in the sun and freezing cold heatsinks in the Victorian high country in winter).
Closed back with lumbar support as a bonus is also good on the colder nights around the fire when the kidneys can sometimes freeze.
I'm currently using a chair from DMH (Lonsdale) which is OK except also has soft armrests, it replaced a "Wild Country" brand chair which was probably my "best ever" chair till I managed to break it. (no fat jokes thanx) Never been able to find another or equivalent.
