Scam for sure. Report it to gum tree. There was a similar one when I was looking on Trading Post a while ago.

Definitely a scam, says it is in Adelaide, photo is not taken in SA, wrong type of power pole in the background, camper is not registered in SA.  another fake add by a scum bag scammer.

Only concrete poles in SA. Thats right isn't it.

EDIT; I think it is steel poles..

When we were trying to sell our Jayco Eagle recently we had LOTS of scam emails asking for lots of details including the VIN/chassis numbers, rego numbers, our address, making offers etc - and they were people who would refuse to contact us via phone.  In return we refused to reply to people via email or SMS.

If someone is genuinely interested, they will call and speak with you.  We then asked people to verify who they were.  If they are not prepared to provide details then they are not genuine buyers, or sellers.

Be very careful everyone!

Same camper in Melbourne.

Also did a search of his email address and he turned up on a site in Calgary selling a Dodge.

Cheers

Another on Gumtree.  I feel iffy buying something off these sites that don't have any fees for listing.  Good place to get rid of all your "hot" goods.

Of course it may not be a scam, he may just have listed it in every state to improve his chances of ripping someone off, oops I mean selling it ;D

I didn't see the add from yesterday,  it was removed by the time I saw this thread.  I have reported it,  but it must be worthwhile for them to keep posting them up.

Got another e-mail
Quote
Hello again Richard,
The camper is currently located at approximately five km of Geraldton, WA stored in freight carrier and the pick it up option is not available, but it could also be transported free of charge by Live Shipping Auto Shippers, because they works with Army, we have free shipping all over the Australia (Estimated Shipping Time: 3-5 business days).
Due to the urgent nature of sale I'd like to conclude this transaction using the security provided by Live Shipping's Buyer Protection Program, they basically act as an independent third party between buyer and seller.
According to Live Shipping Buyer Protection Program you have 5 days from the time you receive the trailer to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
If, for some reason, you disagree with the camper (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since the camper looks like I described in the listing and photos are real and recently taken) it will be shipped back to me on my expense and Shipping company will full refund your money back.

If you're really interested to move forward just e-mail me back with your: full name, delivery address, cell phone# and my Shipping agent will contact you to explain the purchasing procedure.

Respectfully
Carl

should this be reported to the police or something? surely they have a 'cyber' section.

or perhaps the Caravan Industry Association?

Thoughts?

only a fool would shop on bumtree...  It has to be THE most exploited site on the earth or in cyberspace - more so than Ebay...

there must be 80% of scam's posted on forums come from there... I remember last model GU 4.2's for 9000 and people asking if it was a scam... latest model pajero's with 5000 klms on them for 20k..

why would you waste your time with that place?
