Cheers baz.
I've had no luck contacting the bloke that made yours, even left message :(

He does a lot of touring and can take a while to contact you, he could be away, he did take a while last time we tried to contact him.

Works from home.

Baz.

Spoke with a place that DDR has usd in the past

Canvas Craft in Mordiallic
To do something like Baz' one, awning total of 4.6mtr long (so comes out off rack 2.4 or 2.5, then drops down to ground at 2.1 or 2.2) awning with eyelets at 2.5mtr for 2x legs and eyelets at the end for pegs, x 1300 wide in bag with sailtrack to hang it off = roughly $250> but need to drop in and see the man first to make sure we are talkin bout the same thing :)

Just not sure on Canvas, when somethign that big got wet, it would weigh tons... How bad is it Baz??

The water doesn't soak in, we got caught in a rain storm up at Newnes plateau, the water just beads off, no issues rolling it back in, pretty much the same as normal, BUT, you have to take into account how large it is though, it's not lightweight canvas.

yea going to have a look at what material the bloke in Mordi uses, might not go with Canvas for the weight issue... not sure yet. Price was very reasonable I thought.

Ordered one from Canvas Craft in Mordialloc.

Total length: 4.6mtrs

2.5mtrs from Rack coming off the back of the car, with eyelets at that distance for 2 legs, then 2.1 down to the ground as a wind/rain break - also with velcro ties down the end to tie to the poles.

$260+gst in carry bag with sail track to hang off awning. Pretty happy with that!

Similar to this but off the back not side.

We got ours for $770 at a camping expo in Kalgoorlie last year. Heard on the radio this week that they will be selling foxwing awnings for $699 with a free camping chair this weekend at a home expo - will let you know on Sunday.

This is what we used for cover over the kitchen when we were in Coral Bay in July - can something like this be adapted for a car? Maybe. Certainly was cheap and cheerful.  ;D

(tarp was 8'x6' and took a couple of minutes to put up with the assistance of the the two elves in the background. total cost, ~$40)

Have a look at the ' supa-peg ' awning .
Gives that bit more shade .... still looks a bit weak in the hinge department , hence why I am building my own awning , maybe similar to the supa-peg one or the ' Hannibal awning . I scored one of these with my rooftop tent , as an awning I don't think you could get better , just not big enough for the new camper , going to put it on the work ute .

If its the same factory, what would be the difference between genuine and non? The logo?

As mentioned, can ray do a deal or could we do bulk buy?

He can but shipping is a killer on small amounts.

Example, shipping on 1 item was $350... more than the awning  :(

If he's able to do one to Cairns at a good price I would be very keen......

OK Shipping maybe a killer on 1, but if 10 people buy one and shipping is say 500 dollars, then it would be down to 50 each into Australia....
