Collingwood needs a coach with ‘fresh ideas’: Buckley
By Scott Spits
Departing Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley says the club should look for a coach with “fresh eyes” and “fresh ideas” because he doesnt have any.
He said part of his reason for leaving the AFL club was that he couldn’t guarantee he would still want to be at Collingwood in five years from now.
Former AFL player Nathan Buckley is stepping down as the coach of Collingwood.
“Ultimately I think that we’re in a period of regeneration as a football club,” he said.
“The list turnover has begun. And I think that we can refresh really quickly. I think that the playing list can be competitive. I think that we’re competitive now. I think we can win quite quickly.
“Its obvious to all I have no phuckin clue what I'm talking about or doing, and I have the worst no winning record going which Im proud of. Wouldnt matter what list I had, I'd still be useless"
“I think the expectations externally are always a little bit lofty when it comes to Collingwood.
“That change and regeneration is in the midst of happening. The candidate who the club ended up looking for should be someone who has those fresh eyes, fresh ideas.”
