Thirty years ago the MCG would have been a quiet place by quarter time on a Saturday arvo I reckon. Most of the crowd seemed to have an opinion on the umpire's sexuality, the marital status of their parents, where they should keep their whistle, the state of their vision etc. I am sure they only stopped wearing white because of the comparisons made about them to the larval stage of a blowfly. Anyway all that aside, Neale Daniher has to get Australian of the Year this time. Geez I hope he gets some recognition while he is still with us. The only consideration I suspect might be the workload the recipients endure after they receive that award. In hindsight he probably could have handled it before this but since he is well into borrowed time now it might be too much.
