Realy hoped 1917 was going to be good .. Same with Dunkirk and the remake of Midway .. sadly they missed the mark .
I found it very slow and lacking possibly due to focusing on the 2
The guy didnt have a round chambered and had to cock his rifle after all he had been through
a lot of other so called great war movies are no different with their short comings .. Flame suit on
1917 on Netflix, follows two messengers attempting to get an urgent message to a frontline general and save the lives of 1600 men.
That's in just about every war / cop / spy movie or show Especially when you've had your pistol on the baddie (or vice versa) for 5 minutes, telling him to drop his gun, then, to prove you're not joking, you cock it - & a round doesn't get ejected, so there was nothing up the spout all that time! The couple of other things that got me were they had to work their way through the German tunnel, dodging booby-traps & all sorts of dangers, then get out the other side & he gets picked up by the other unit & given a lift in a truck! So why didn't they just drive there in the first place Then a bit later, he's in the river & goes over a waterfall They're on the Somme & the high ground is gentle, rolling hills ~10m higher than the rest
... as tomorrow evening that screen will switch to the new Spider-Man movie)
Yes its a movie ..yes its entertainment, though when they start saying its the best WW1 film thats when I balk ..Have never seen such Pristine untouched by war countryside in any original photos dated around that time .. Maybe in 1914 when battles for areas began it would have been but not after three years oif total war .. and magicaly the trenches are almost precision perfect ..The modern style combat techniques the two used when going through the trenches clearing .. Hobnail boots on the steel bridge girder, would have been slipping all over the joint in that scene [ I had the displeasure of being issued the bloody things once ] .. then comes the sniper, he was a sitting duck totaly exposed and yet the Sniper is that bad he puts a round into the water 10 + feet away then magicaly gets on target at angles he cant physicaly shoot at ..The guy didnt have a round chambered and had to cock his rifle after all he had been through ... Being picky, yes .. If your going to do those scenes at least do it to the period correct and believable way .Just a few things of the many that bugged me with it and a lot of other so called great war movies are no different with their short comings .. Flame suit on
The Unforgivable on Netflix - has Sandra Bullock as the main character. We really liked it
Just finished watching “No time to die”. I enjoyed it but the ending was a bit of a surprise.
Was lookin forward to Kings man, but the reviews are horrificGrotesque error of judgment renders The King’s Man almost unwatchable
