Obviously never dealt with individual state firearms branches then eh................
Saw a horror story about that on another forum
Bloke (licensed shooter) moved from Vic to NSW, so had to apply for NSW rifle & pistol licenses as there's no provision to just transfer them across. Took so long that his Vic licenses were approaching expiry so tried to renew them - Vic won't let him do that as he now lives in NSW. They then expired, still without word on new licenses, so he asked NSW Firearms what was happening - Oh, still being processed but if old licenses have now expired, you'll now have to re-apply for completely new licenses, as an unlicensed person, which means going back & doing safety courses etc all over again. What about my firearms? No, you'll need to get rid of them because you're not licensed, then 6 months after getting your new licenses, you can apply to purchase 1 each pistol & rifle, with normal 28-day cooling-off period applying, then after another 6 months, you can apply for more
He has thankfully been able to get his (licensed) brother to store his firearms back in Vic, rather than getting rid of them, but FFS, this is 2017 & we've all been part of one (
) country for 116 years now - shouldn't we be pat petty bureaucratic crap like this by now
