About 6 months ago I had to ask the operator at our local BP if the signs on her pumps where broken.
She assured me it really was 99 cents per L for diesel that day...

Apparently no one told the other BP 5km away that was stinging those travelers on the much busier road then ours almost $1.10.... ;D

When traveling always try to find a fuel deport rather than a servo , the price can be better  .
In Kununurra the CoOp a few Ks out of town is 15cents cheaper than town Well worth the drive out

interesting how the discussion about fuel prices always end up that it's too expensive.

.....

Go figure  ???

My interpretation of this thread is that it isn't about how expensive diesel is, 'per say'.  It is what it is and I'm sure most sensible people understand that there's a cost associated with pouring it into your car from a bowser.... I understood this thread to be about the price variation of diesel, and the lack of consistent, logical or meaningful reason why it can vary so much.

As a commodity you'd expect there to be some consistency, yet more often than not there is no consistency, so you're left wondering if the variation in price is justifiable, or whether it's a case of price gouging by the suppliers or retailers.

Take a look at the profits of the oil companies and I'm sure you'll realise for all the effort they take to pull the stuff out of the ground and provide it as a fuel to us, it is still very worth their while...

Tracker was not having a go as mentioned.

Now beer prices thats another thing  ;D

Mark

late June at Yulara I went to the only bar there that sells take away beer.  " 6 pack of xxxx gold please"   "That will be $42 sir"    OK never mind I will drink the wifes wine.

Not complaining about diesel prices except mainly southern suburbs of Perth where it sticks at $1.36 everyday.  Paid $2.00 at Tjukayirla and $2.40 at Warakurna on Great Central Road mid June but that was a long way for a truck to haul fuel to those places.  Diesel in northern territory is cheap - mostly about $1.25.

Two years ago at Billaluna on the Tanami Diesal at $2.60  but $1,65 at Halls Creek   At the same time a slab of VB at $75 costs $8.33 per liter

We have been ripped off for decades and will continue to be ripped off for decades to come. It's all got to do with the price cycle.

My mate paid $3 for 600ml of water at Cape York last week.   Now compare that to diesel or petrol!!!!  You would have to be a dead set idiot to buy bottled water.
Having lots of friends on farcebook is the same as having lots of money in monopoly...means absolutely nothing!!

After spending the past 4 months in Europe I'm looking forward to filling up when I return to Oz  :D  you pay around the same in Euros as we pay in dollars per litre and that's around 30% more. Cheapest we paid was 1.09 Euros per litre in Austria but up in Scandinavia it's over $2 a litre. No wonder they all drive Teslas in Norway  :D
