Trailer build parts
« on: July 28, 2016, 08:29:23 PM »
Hello all
Quick basic questions
About to build a trailer from a good quality aluminium tray
2800 x2000 drop sides, builders racks and trundle tray

Bit stuck on do I put it on Landcruiser wheels and have it high, or 14" wheels and have low
Going to be work trailer so low be better for lifting ect

What suspension, springs or independant
What brakes, electric, all wheels or only fron, want rated at about 2500kg
Also wyee is a good supplier to get oarts, don't want import parts, would like quality parts so they last

Anything I have missed ???
2010 dual cab hilux , most of the fruit
2008 vdj79 work ute,

Wheel choice will be a compromise between where you want to use the trailer and the load height. If doing alot of dirt/rough stuff I would go 4x4 wheels.

Anything over 2000kg atm needs brakes on all wheels and a breakaway unit to apply the brakes should the trailer become detatched from the tow vehicle.
