But it costs $250+ for annual beach permit so you need to figure that in.
$6 for the site is almost too good a deal. You generally need to book weeks in advance but when you get there you often see several empty sites....so maybe people just book them so they have the option to go but forfeit $6 at most if they choose not to.

I must have got a "Speshul Deel" as I only pay $158 P.A. for a permit.
I've also have a credit for the days paid for so, all good.

Jesus H Christ, didn't it blow its friggin ring off last night.

At 1:30am, it was bloody roaring through here.

Its gotta rain soon.
Everybody says how Stanthorpe, well, the southern downs, or crap, most of the southern Queensland area in general, has had no rain and is in drought conditions.
We have had only 30mm here, more than the drought effected areas.
I might be wrong, but when the rains come, I can't help but think, it will be in biblical proportion's.
We've had 173mm of rain for the calendar year to date.
Normal is 525mm..... its pretty dry out here.
We have 3 year old frogs here that haven't learnt to swim yet.

Yep. Blowing a gale all night here too. Can only hope it helped rather than hindered the firefighters.

its amazing reading comments in the papers when they are doing hazard reductions, arseholes in the cities complaining lilke **** about the smoke, and 'surely they can do it at a better time'...
bet arseholes are now being quiet about it, or they will complain about people building houses near the bush.

Nice calm morning today, the sky is pretty clear, pretty much, no wind.

Bit of a change after yesterday.

Hope the firies can get on top of the trouble spots.

The town of Linville is under a "Leave Now" situation. It's not too good, by the sound of it.

Friggin wind just howled through here yesterday and last night.

Must be just terrific for a fire fighter trying to work in it.

The wind has dropped off a tad this morning, same as yesterday before picking up a few hours later.
I had to go out yesterday, friggin kills me to drive a car with so much dust around.
You can cut through the dust with a knife and the engine of a car just love ingesting fine dust.

Oh, I took the wife's car, no sense mistreating a classic car.

Had a mate that’s driving trucks in a mine at Dysart call me in a panic last night saying the fires are all over the news and he wanted to make sure we were ok.

I was laughing a said all of the fires are miles away from us.
After I hung up I chucked the news on to see and bugger me the Sunny Coast is alight. They where saying around 14 houses lost last night.

The wind was horrific down this way all night, I imagine the fires would have moved super fast in these conditions and it would have been a terrible night for everyone up there.

I hope everyone up on the northern end of the coast is ok today.

I remember watching the news when there have been serious fires down south and I use to think how lucky we are in Qld that we don't get those type of fires. How wrong was I. And now on the Sunny Coast. No lives lost so far. I hope it stays that way. And how are the heros who fight the fires. Kevin

I was talking to a lady yesterday from just up the road and I mentioned, we're supposed to get around 5mm of rain this week.

She said, no, October we are getting rain and lots of it.

How do you know that, i asked.

She said, that's what the onion man said, and he has never been wrong.
Apparently, Atkinson's dam refills every 7 years like clockwork..... it was last full in 2012.

Will be interesting now, to see if the onion man is still on form.
Mind you, while I want/need rain, I don't want a years worth in 1 month either.

That may well be what we all get ???

5ish years ago, there was a news article on Thursday night that Hinze Dam on the GC had hit 17%, & when it hit 16% the next level of water restrictions would cut in, which would include pumping recycled sewerage into the dam :'(. They finished off the article to say we were expecting "showers" that weekend, which would be nice but wouldn't have any real effect.

It absolutely pisted down that weekend ;D, & Monday night they announced that the Dam was now at 67%! :o It overflowed about 2 weeks later ;D

How did your area out there get on in the 2011 floods ???
