Wanting to upgrade an rm360 2 way fridge
« on: May 03, 2016, 10:15:11 PM »
Hey all. My father's finally gone and gotten himself a caravan.
1983 Windsor statesman. 14ft. Now it came with a rm360 2 way fridge freezer.
Which currently isn't working correctly. I have checked and the 240v element has died and when run on gas. It freezes the freezer but the fridge doesn't get cold at all. We have checked the jet for blockage and also flipped the fridge.

Now I'm pretty sure he is set on replacing the 30 or so year old fridge with a 12v upright compressor style. As he just wants it to work. Set and forget sort of thing.

My question is. What options are there that won't break the budget. As there isn't much of a budget. Either way the van will need to be fitted with battery.

I'm after suggestions that might have a freezer. And fit in the same area roughly as the old fridge. Not that he is incapable of rebuilding the kitchen just doesn't have the time.

Something that doesn't eat the batteries would be good too. I am aware that the uprights aren't as efficient as a chest fridge.

we did similar and pulled out the 90 litre 3 way and replaced it with a 110 litre 12v Evakool

I think he plans on a bit of both. I'll check out the evakool one.
