Just wondering what is the trip to Betsy like? Road wise and time wise. Would a standard height grand vitara make it or is it usually abit rutted out. I would be travelling with a series 60 land cruiser. Which I know will have no dramas.
you have to go through a few creek crossings along the way, but so long as it hasn't rained heavily before you go, you should be fine in a standard 4wd of any type. It's not what I'd call a 4wd track from Cania Gorge to there, just an off-road dirt track really. I never considered putting it in 4wd anywhere at all, it's not a hard drive.
Time wise...allow the whole day to drive there and back....hard to give exact time as everyone drives at a different pace. Be sure to stop at the lookout when you are in the National Park, a fantastic view to be had there.

I was going to mention about Betsy at the start of this thread but, over the years, have gone off recommending things to folk as a couple of times "Things" have occurred & I've felt a bit guilty but I can only agree with Rumpig here.
We had our camper at The Barracks & Betsy was a doodle.
It was bloody cold though! One day peaked at 7° at 14:30!

if you do go, be sure and return back from Betsy the same way you go there if you are concerned about 4wding. There is an alternate loop track that takes you past The Wall, this does have a touch of 4wding to it but once again I don't call it hard to do for anyone with previous 4wding experience, but best avoided by those preferring an easier route to take.
Personally I'd make the effort to go see the wreck, it's worth seeing and reading the information boards they have there....I noticed on our last visit, there seemed to be less of the plane there then I recalled on our previous visit some 7 or 8 years earlier...sad to say, but I guess, see it while you can is what I'm saying. Take lunch and have it at the lookout, it's a real nice day out. I'll try and find some pics of the track for you when I jump on the home computer later on

I just googled it as I had no real idea what the distance was, but I didn't think it was a big distance, it's just slow driving along the way. Big 4 website says it is 39 klms to Kroombit Tops, but unsure if that is park entrance or the wreck they refer to. Call it roughly a 100klm found trip and you'd be close I reckon

That's not too bad then. I was expecting over 100kms each way. So it's just slow going then.
