Greetings from The Gong
« on: December 21, 2015, 06:10:46 AM »
G'day from Wollongong. We just purchased an Aussie built 2004 Cavalier Shiralee (off road) - picking it up Wednesday. Great condition for its age, and comes with full annexe (half midge net/half solid) plus an original Drifta 6ft slide out kitchen. It was a great buy at $3200 and the guy we purchased from really looked after us, even treating some minor surface rust and getting it point inspected by a third party. We are former tenters, but have hired 2 other campers previously this year (from the same guy we purchased this one from) so we knew what we liked and what we wanted. It comes with 3 jerry can holders around the sides, and a gas bottle on side. Huge tool box on front axle. All lockable. Swing up jockey wheel, which I like. In the future planning to install under trailer water tank, 12v battery system, and led lighting. Probably won't bother with an inverter, as you can get 12v versions of most common appliances these days. Also might figure out a way to attached an axe and a shovel to the sides - maybe. Would also like to get the Drifta drawers which are designed to slide out next to the existing Drifta kitchen, to take advantage of the space. At some stage (when I can afford to buy one!) would like to get a fridge, and would either like to convert part of the existing kitchen (the cupboard closest to the tailgate when pulled out) into a fridge space, like they have on the new Drifta kitchen design, or simply carry it in the back of the car. Anyway, lots of plans but will take one thing at a time. First thing to do is pick it up on Wednesday!

Welcome - it seem you have made a good start on your to do list already. Don't worry though, there will always be more items to add.
