Led Zep best rock band ever
If John Bonham hadn't died who knows what music they were capable of

I get a huge buzz from finally tracking down a long lost song that I might have remembered hearing many years ago. In my case it's mostly stuff from the seventies or eighties with bits & pieces from the sixties. Most of the time it only starts with the tiniest thread of a long lost tune...then you might hear it on the radio or somewhere again before its lost again...can be a very frustrating pastime !!
But then one day, sometimes years later, you get lucky and get to hear on the radio the very same song you've been trying to track down...and at the end of song.....they announce what it was....and who sang it !!
Yessssss !!!!!

I guess at the end of the day.....whatever music floats your boat....enjoy it

My blues education was from my younger brother.
To say he was obsessed with the blues is an understatement.
Every now and then, I hear muso's and think to myself, thanks Al.
RIP bro

What is it about brothers ( and other family members for that matter ) and their music that influences us hey Glen.
My older brother and I shared a room back in the sixties and early seventies and it was he that got in Cream, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull and some of the more obscure bands at the time like Iron Butterfly.
Latest song that I'm trying to track down was from a live performance by Jimmy Page & Robert Plant I think from the early nineties and was popular on the pub scene. Had a heavy piano driven rhythm which was something a little different from them.
So far this one has eluded me....but only been searching for a short time.
Hopefully someone out there might know it ?

Cheers
Rob

With a heavy piano backing, it might be a bootleg with John Paul Jones, the piano was his passion. South Bound Saurez is a great example of his influence on the band.
It wasnt from The Honeydrippers album was it?
Jeff Beck and Brian Setzer also played in that line up too by memory.

Cheers Glen

When you mention the piano backing, Boogie with Stu immediately springs to mind. But it is from their Physical Graffiti album from 1975, and you've obviously already checked that one out? And it's wasn't really that heavy driven I guess. Geez I used to crank that song up on the car cassette deck in the old EH Holden, back in Toowoomba in the 70's..  ;D

Thanks for the tips !!

Pretty sure it was from sometime between 88-92 and was played quite a bit on 4MMM.
Maybe it was just Robert Plant...but the memory is that it was both.
It was definately not an old song of theirs ( at least not from the first five albums )...might have been a live recording but no longer sure.

Have checked out the Elander or Elonda or whatever album it was that they released around that time and it's not on there.

No worries...I will hear it again one day.

Cheers
Rob

I am not religious and in fact wasn't aware that an American band I have been cranking up after the last couple of weeks have their roots in Religion.

If you get a chance look up Needtobreathe (one word).  They are a southern rock sound and their song 'brother' is bloody fantastic but so are many of their songs from their last Album.

Thanks for some great ideas and introductions. I find that listening to Vital Bits, 6am every Saturday and Sunday on 3 RRR FM often leads to me to music I've never heard before, even from established artists like Neil Young. Also more obscure stuff such as Ian Harper's "when an old cricketer leaves the crease" - different, but nice.
A favourite band I never saw mentioned here is Little Feat, great southern rock. If you like them, try Marshall Tucker Band too.
(I first got on to Little Feat by a mate whose son played with a bloke who knew that Linda Ronstadt's father played backing on a particular track - it's as good a way as any to discover a new band!). Hi Paul, wherever you are.

Thanks for the tip on Little Feat.  I often listen to the Marshall Tucker band but had never heard of Little Feat.  I have been playing them all afternoon.  I love their Lyrics, guitar picking and use of the keyboard.   My favorite so far....Cold, Cold, Cold.....

We have to start thinking about what sort of a world we are going to leave for Keith Richards after we are all gone.

Yep, used to follow them around the pubs when I was in old Sydney town. A much under rated group me thinks
