    G'Day All,
This question is directed at Queenslander's i suppose......If you now follow Brisbane Broncos who played there first year in 1988 or The Nth Queensland Cowboys who played there first year in 1998.....Which club did you follow before these  inaugural years of the Broncos and Cowboys.....????...Interesting !!!!

                                                                          Cheers Tracker.

When i was a kid used to follow the mighty Newtown Jets, then the raiders (Steve Jackson is a Mackay boy & scored that great 20m barge over try to win the '89 GF (i think it was 89).
Then followed the broncos & finally the COWBOYS.

n 1998 the Super League and Australian Rugby League competitions merged to form the National Rugby League (NRL). The Cowboys began their first season in this competition strongly, and after six rounds they were in equal first place. Although they fell

I had the same dilema... but slightly further south.

As a Newcastle boy, I went for Manly because I lived at the beach and they were on the beach. (I was 5yo... cut me some slack)

When the Knights entered the comp'... I turned red and blue. Been that way ever since.

Been tough times mate, I'm a red & blue man too. I'll be backing the cows this weekend... I don't really want to see Wayne Bennett walk straight into a premiership winning team after his effort at Newy.

Especially what he did with Darius Boyd.....walked away from the club, his "mate" played the depression card and walked as well, got rid of the fullback, Darius got better real quick, and then slotted straight in and has played great since..

Darius played like a busted ar*e at Newie !!

I was a Balmain Tigers supporter until 1995 when the Cowboys came on the scene. I was so happy when we finally got a team from our region in the comp.

Even though the Broncos were a QLD based club, I never bonded with them and stuck with the Tigers until the Cowboys came on the scene.

Now, as you can guess  :D. I am a mad Cowboys fanatic.
To clear up when the Cowboys first started, this is a signed jersey from the first year in the Comp, 1995. This was when it was called the ARL not NRL.

I know Mate. I will when I get some spare coin. I have quite a bit of signed Cowboys memorabilia in my entertainment room including framed 2008 signed jersey, signed footy from 2005 (I think) framed and signed Dally M tribute to JT from 2005, signed framed stuff from Matt Sing, Josh Hannay, Paul Bowman, Ty Williams, Matt Bowen, Graham Murray etc.

I will take another pic and post up shortly.

Followed Souths Magpies here in Qld and played for Souths as a junior also, only made sense that i support the Magpies in NSW, so Wests is the team i have followed since a kid. Even these days i still barrack for Wests over the Broncos and Cowboys. My old man was heavily involved with Souths here in Brisbane, so i went to every footy game and got to watch guys like Mal Meninga, Gary Belcher, Peter Jackson, Bob Lindner play for the club before they headed South for the money.
In saying all that.... i was at the first Broncos game at Lang Park, and went to many games over the years supporting them...happy for them to beat any NSW team other then Wests...same goes for the Cowboys  ;D ;D In a way the 2 Qld teams playing each other in the final sucks, i don't know who to barrack for now  ??? ???

Bears were a great club, north sydney oval was great ground. Never a fan but still pi553d how a vibrant bears could merge with a broke Manly and two years later the merger disbands and the Bears are gone !!!!!!  7ucken artherson and his cronies.
Here for a good time, not a long time!
