Where have you been people?
Netflix US has been there/here for years.
All to late now, with all this publicity they will shut the gate.

Shrek, haven't used Netflix yet but we too were on the 200 GB plan. About the time Netflix launched in Aus, Telstra wrote to us and advised that because we were loyal customers, they were changing our plan, by upping it 300 GB/mth.

Has your plan not changed?

So that's why!
We figured it was a Telstra trick...since our two boys have moved out, we don't go anywhere near to 200g d/l limit.
Thought Telstra had noticed we were using less, so gave us more, knowing we wouldn't use it, but we'd think they were nice people  lol

Shame movies aren't entertaining anymore. I use our d/l to find old movies, they had stories to 'em  ;)

Holy Cow! The US version of Netflix is chalk and cheese to the Australian one  >:(

Used a VPN to give me a US IP address and took a look-see, yep, so much more content compared to Australia.

Wish I hadn't looked now... ignorance is bliss

Today i received an email from Optus offering Netfix Aust for 6 months free.
Both girls want to try it out so signed up, If they like it they can pay extra when they contribute to the NBN cost.

So get it working on the Smart TV and on the playstations in their respective rooms.

Time to set up a profile.
It takes me to a screen  where I have to pick 3 movies / tv shows that I like.
LMAO I couldn't find 3 amongst their offerings,  the girls can have it, that will test out the 'unlimited'

Unlimited says it all, I used to be on 1TB a month and always just snuck in, this will test their "allowable user policy"
But doesn't matter as Netflix on Optus NBN doesn't come off your data allowance, whatever deal you have.

And it begins.

Quote
Netflix has already begun locking out some Australian customers who circumvent its geographical blocks to access content from overseas catalogues, just days after it announced a crackdown on the practice.

Melbourne based service uFlix, which configures a user's DNS settings and IP address to make it look as if they are connecting from a different country, said a small number of its customers had received notices from the popular streaming service telling them to switch off their unblocking service.

"You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy," Netflix said to its customers, according to uFlix.

"Please turn off any of these services and try again."

uFlix said the crackdown had so far only reached "a few users", but that it expected the number to grow in the next few days.

"The blocking is currently not aggressive and we believe (for the moment) they are only testing the new blocking methods on their customers," uFlix managing director Peter Dujan told Fairfax Media.

There are several options.. personally I use UnoTelly.

Watch out for the cheaper options - they limit the amount of bandwidth you get, which might impact on your  viewing experience.

Use your Australian Netflix subscription and then use a DNS rerouting service, I use Getflix, and change your location to which ever country you wish to view. Can switch to USA or Canada or UK etc.

Umm, camping !!  ;D

I don't have a smart TV, and of a night time after the news I can usually find enough shows on normal TV and the basic Foxtel to amuse myself till midnight !

Does Netflix have sports programs ? Like car racing ?

I find a disturbing trend here......too much time behind a TV and not enough time out camping !!  Sad..... :'( :'( >:D

there are US based VPN providers that will purchase (on your behalf) and mail to you, US itunes gift cards.

You pay with a PayPal account, and they mail you US itunes gift card purchased with US dollars.

this bypasses the issue of using an Australian issued credit card. Or an international bank credit card with an Australian address.

to borrow a quote from the character "Mr Universe" in the Firefly movie Serenity...

"you can't stop the signal..."

the more ways that governments and corporations find to "catch" people out and to "block" them...

the more ways that others will find to get around it.

Yeah but Foxtel has never stopped being able to send your 2nd (or 3rd) box to a mates place and split the costs.  ;)
