Doesnt sound good...

People living in Victoria's north and north-west have been urged to leave their homes as soon as possible as the region faces the worst fire conditions in 10 years.

Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp declared a Code Red – the state’s highest bushfire warning level - for the Mallee and Northern Country regions on Wednesday afternoon.

“Do not be there. If a fire occurs, you will not survive,” Steve Warrington, the CFA’s chief officer, said on Wednesday.

“If you live in those areas and a fire occurs, a fire will take your home. You need to make sure you are not there. Code Red says to us that we cannot control a fire if it starts. Move out tonight.”

Yep, I live in Rochester and yesterday was too close for comfort, especially when we started getting the emergency warning chimes through the phones telling us that it was too late to leave. Thankfully the 40+ CFA trucks and Water Bomber(s) did a brilliant job of fighting the fires and a bit of luck later in the day with a weather change. CFA crews came from as far as Mt Eliza and Pakenham, so big thanks to them for coming such a long way to help out!!
We've swapped from the camper to a van yay! :)

Just playing around with BoM weather radar & saw that Mt Hotham is currently showing as -2C.

Had a look a bit further &

$ Date/Time EDT   Temp °C    App Temp °C
01/03:30pm   -1.9   -11.6
01/03:30am   1.0   -8.8
30/03:30pm   3.4   0.0
30/03:30am   5.7   1.2
29/03:30pm   16.3   7.4
29/03:30am   9.6   1.7

So the last 2 days, it's been colder late arvo than before dawn, & December has started colder than November?
