Forecast was for 20-40mm of rain today, I was searching eBay for an Ark. Just as well I didn't find one as only 1mm of rain eventuated...

Severe weather could bring flash flooding to country Victoria over the next two days, with Premier Daniel Andrews urging residents to download the state's emergency alert app.

The warm spring weather that graced Victoria last weekend will abruptly shift to severe downpours and residents across much of the state's north face the prospect of flash flooding.

Between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain could be dumped over some areas in just six hours on Thursday, the weather bureau has warned.

A severe weather warning has been issued for towns from Mildura to Falls Creek, as a low pressure system deepens over the state's north-west.

The warning area also covers Horsham, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour and Maryborough.

Ms Johnson said the heaviest rain could fall anywhere in the warning area, but is more likely to hit the eastern ranges.

Damaging wind gusts could peak at 100km/h in the eastern alpine area from early on Thursday morning, before easing in the afternoon.
