Dunny Paper
« on: February 16, 2015, 08:38:01 AM »
Now I'd like this to be a serious discussion because of the possible ramifications from using the wrong dunny paper  ::) The thing is a lot of the dunny paper on the market is totally unsuitable to use in portable dunny's because it's made so your fingers don't go through it at an innapropriate time  :o however this also means that it doesn't always break down in the dunny.
Now I know I could go out and get several different brands and do the break up test on them, but I thought that there will be a few swaggers that have allready done this and would share their knowledge  :cup:

There seams to be 3 catergories

1/ Superstrong/soft..........fingers don't go through, doesn't break up in porta potti. Ring gear rating = 1

2/ Thin/soft..............fingers go through, breaks up in dunny. Ring gear rating = 2

3/ Smooth/shiny.........you know the sort, public toilet stuff, doesn't actually remove anything, just smears it around  :'(   Ring gear rating = ouch ::)

So what are your recommendations

X 2 for Quilton.  It is the one most recommended for use in porta loos on other sites as well.  It's what we use at home as well.

Handles everything well......

If you can track down the supplier that the Army used in the ration packs back in the 70's you could not go wrong.
This alleged toilet paper was pretty much waterproof so you could get it back after dumping (and I know that can be taken different ways) and re-cycle it.
Cheers

Quickest way is to put a couple of sheets of the brand you want to use in a jar, half fill with water, put the lid on and shake vigorously.
If the paper is suitable it would have disintegrated into very very small pieces and the water will go milky.
This is effectively the result you are looking for.
No breakdown then don't use that brand.
Simples!!!

I just tried this and the jar is now all brown and stinky and a bit nutty.
Did you mean to say to use clean paper and before wiping?

I wish i'd put the lid on a bit tighter too.
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....
