Tis the season for the common cold especially here in the republic of Victoria, which got me thinking....how many people are quietly suffering a cold or the flu and not saying a word for fear of being locked down for 2 weeks.

Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk

Pharmacist told me they are seeing bugger all people with the cold this year. When you think about it…..where would you get it from ?  Usually comes from overseas and does it’s lap around the world.

China builds hospital in 10 days...

But I wondered ever since that was first announced ...

In the first day or 2, before work started on the actual building, how did they get water & power in, & sewerage out (assuming they even know what that is ??? >:D). Then every ICU bed has to be plumbed for O2 ventilation, drainage & so on.

I still think that it was all a massive PR "See How Good We Are" exercise, rather than a genuine hospital ??? >:D (Or planing & quiet construction actually started 12 months before that! >:D)

Same as last year when there was hardly any flu cases reported.

Sort of makes sense when you think that everybody is washing, or sterilising, their hands 1000000000 times a day!

Funny that, simple hygiene helps stop the spread of cold & flu! Who would have thunk it ??? ::)

Im in the same boat mate.. all good.
Think that was the Shit i had... wsa easy...didnt really eat for 2 days prior, and drank lots of water, and never had the explosives others have said they had

All went well apparently i have a lovely looking Colon. Specialist said do the poop test when i am 50 and if that is all good see you at 55

Did the Moviprep. I think the secret is that you don't eat much for 3 days before it, and buy some lemonade to have as chasers as the second dose was getting a bit sweet. Yeah it is like peeing out ya bum but I had a bit of warning each time so just a quick walk off to the bathroom every half hour.

The op went well was out like a light.

The most amazing thing was how much food i had to put back into me to get the worms woken up and working again

Has anybody in Qld (don't know if any of the rest of you have to do the same ???) yet gone through the exercise of replacing your existing smoke alarms with the new, now required, inter-connected ones ???

If so, what sort of $$$ were you looking at ???

We just got a brochure dropped in the letter box from some local sparkies offering to do it for $33 visit fee + $88 per alarm, with no hourly charge, so = $385 for 4, which sounds OK to me ???

Just did it a couple of weeks ago.
We only had 2 smoke alarms and needed a new interconnection wire roughly 14m apart.

Brooks alarms (better quality with less false alarms, but not premium top of the line type) $64 each.
14m of 1.5mm2 SDI and 1.5hr labour.
Total including GST $290

Were both alarms 240V powered before ? And they weren’t interconnected ?
My house is 25yrs old and they had to be 240V and interconnected.

Yeah, it was a process of building extensions and rooms that had changed purpose over the years. I had added an alarm outside a door that had become a bedroom somewhere along the way.
The original alarm was due to be replaced, so decided to get it all done properly.

The old Queenslander that we moved to the property had been renovated about 6 years ago when it was still in Brisbane and had 3 smoke alarms installed, all with separate supplies.
Part of our building permit for relocating that house up here required those alarms to be changed and interlinked.

Another question! ;D

I've got one of the Companion 44AH Power Packs https://www.companionoutdoor.com/44ah-portable-power-pack.

Would it safely be able to be used on it's back ie with the control panel facing upwards ???

Nothing at all in the manual or on their site to say yes, no or anything else about it ???

It is an AGM battery so it should be OK ???

Doing a turn left anytime at the lights this morning when an Mercedes Sprinter Ambulance under lights & siren came through the red light, so they were obviously in a hurry!

Pulled out & followed them as they passed & noticed that it was spitting out occasional puffs of black smoke ???

A steady stream I could understand as they were well & truly pushing it, but why irregular puffs ???

It's the particle burner and it would have smelt like burning kero.  ;) The DD15 that was in the previous truck that I drove, would send out smoke at every gear change, on and off throttle application and jake brake on off when in it's burn cycle.

No problems.  Just check to see it’s a true AGM….ie; no caps on it.

Sealed unit (which I have no intention of pulling apart!) so can't tell ???

Nothing at all mentioned on Companion's site, so sent them a message asking, to which they replied & said
"You will need to keep the power pack upright".

So I'm now more confused than ever! ;D

Did he not know what he's talking about & just picked an easy answer ???

Is it not really an AGM battery ???

Can not all AGM batteries be operated at any angle ???

Who knows ??? ::) :-\

OK guru's, how do I wire an RJ14 telephone socket?

I'm replacing 4 outlets on the loungeroom wall to a single wall plate with multiple sockets (2 x foxtel cables, FTA TV coax, and telephone). I bought one of these https://www.radioparts.com.au/product/30634505/pk4505-rj14-voice-grade-idc-jack-6p4c-(rj12)-(rj12) to replace an existing socket in a wall plate but it has a different coding pattern to what I expected and the google man is not being my friend today. The existing socket is a screw terminal that has white to pin 2 and blue to pin 6. Picture below is of the back of the new socket. Anyone want to suggest where to pin the two wires?

edit -
Quote
2 IDC connections per contact allowing easy loop-in, loop-out for typical voice applications
does this suggest blue wire to either #4 and white wire to either #5?

Yep. 4 and 5 are the middle pins (pair 1) 3 and 6 the outside pins (pair 2)
Getting there if half the fun

The other half is a cold beer when you do.

Without pulling it apart, no way of telling. Doesn’t look sealed to me, but you don’t want to pull it apart, so will remain a mystery !!
