At the rear of my place is a quarry which is full of water, i would estimate it to be 30m deep and guess what un-fenced,
Friends of ours are on acreage out the back of the GC.
They've got a
big U-shaped house, with a pool in the centre of the U, with a deck on 3 sides that you can walk out of any door, across the deck & straight in for a swim. The back of the house & pool / open end of the U are elevated above ground level so no-one can get in that way. Pool is totally invisible from outside the house.
When the pool laws came in way back when, they had to put a fence between the house & their pool, despite it not being accessible to anybody but family (& they didn't have young kids).
But, down beside the driveway, just inside the front 3-strand wire, fence, they also have a dam, 20 x 10 m's, 20' deep. Does that have to be fenced
No, because it's not a swimming pool!
