After you'd sanded them back with the bullbar, you'd put the call out on the radio for a dozen trucks to pop in for 15mins, and all sit there on the horns until they all got pissed off and drove off :D

Revenge and retaliation can only cause trouble.

As good as it sounds to do to them, and hell knows I'd love to, its only fuel on the fire.

Councils are reducing free camps because of pressure from businesses.
National Sparks and wildfires don't want you anywhere near them and forests are actually trying to do their bit, but with limited government funding and resources, most gov depts can't provide the service needed.

Individuals lobbying local council is as useful as t1ts on a bullfrog.
Writing to papers won't sell advertising and protests - well ask the Greens how well they go.

A local copper is only going to resent being sent out to take on a heap of cranky agitated grey nomads who have been woken up, by what they perceive to be evil >:D satanic truck drivers who only intent is to kill them and make their lives miserable on the road.
Go on then if you don't believe me try rationalising with some old geyser even when he hasn't been woken up mid sleep.
They respect your opinion as long as its exactly the same as theirs.............

No I don't have an answer, but I know that p155ing them off will only make matters worse.
Personally I'd love to see 468 flat tyres on their inconsiderate donkeys van, and cars in the morning, but again this is only retaliation and wont solve a thing.
Another idea is to photograph each car with rego and post it on every GN and caravan site in the land, but again - dissent and aggravation.

Now a feasible solution is to approach organisations like RACQ and NRMA with said photos and some informed information of truck rest areas, times, distances and log books and ask them nicely to see what they can do.
This approach run through the right departments may work, but it may not. At least its having a go.

Now off topic slightly, but It seems that there are a lot of myswag posts about various gripes in life and on the road.
Neighbours, noise, speed, hoons, graffiti, selfish campers, smokers, dog owners, truck driver, gypsies and any other thing that people are annoyed at on the day.

Ultimately everyone ( me included) offers an opinion, we hear a few sagas then the thread slowly dies before the next vengeful rant about some selfish fool comes along.
I am yet to see a thread on any forum that can't be summed up with the rationale that it is ignorance and selfishness that is the problem.

Be it any gripe, its usually because someone is being selfish or inconsiderate.
Thankfully I find this forum, although the gripes are the same and the results are usually the same, has a nice bunch of people who actually do seem to care and share.
Thank you to all of you who make this little slice of policia Australia, better.

Maybe a b-double stock crate parked next to their shiny new van, letting the bullocks crap all down the side of the van "might" get the message thru?

Well said Brian532.

Although I think it would be wise for every truckie to give the air horns a good hearty blast as they roll past.

Im not sure, correct me if Im wrong, but that's his job - to uphold the law..

I'm quite sure he wouldn't let any truck driver get off lightly who was over on logbook times would he ??? And telling them that 'it was full of caravans' wouldn't get him off either...

Tight-arses.....

All the money they've put into the car/caravan setup, and they won't part with a few dollars. ::)

I agree with a Nomad for not wanting to part with cash to camp in a van park.....I don't like van parks either, and it's not just about the dollars.....I just like free camping away from the crowds..

Don't forget they have no kids that want/need a shower every day ....or a jumping pillow....or a pool..

But as shown, a lot of them are sooks because they like camping in numbers....must make them feel safe......but to camp on the side of a hwy.....??   they must be sound sleepers ??

Yes, I understand what you're saying there gronk, but when traveling and doing big k's for days on end, it's rarely easy to find a decent free bush camp that's close to a major hwy. Just because I can free camp, doesn't mean I have to. Like them or not, CP's have their place.

In the case of most GN's it's all about the money. Some of the places they stop are just  ::) ::)
They'd rather camp in a noisy dust bowl on the side a major hwy, or in this case, a truck parking area, than spend a bob. Seen heaps of it over the last few years.......

But a few of them are penny pinching because they haven't got a lot to throw around.....a bit over $400 a week for a married couple on the pension.

A night in a van park or a weeks supply of beer ??

Looking at the photo, most look like travellers, not grey nomads...the vans and 4wd's look too new !!

I dunno, most nomads I've seen aren't driving a HQ with 1 mag, and bucket bench seats and a 1968 Viscount.

either way they are in the wrong.

Yep. It's very rare to see an old car/van combo. Our setup would be older than most.

Doesnt matter what they drive or tow, they ( GN's) should know how to follow rules better than most.As the signs are there ( Refrigerated & stock carrying vehicles only) i just hope they can read English and abide by the rules as the rest of us have to.
