I realise that this may open a complete can of worms of everyone's own wonderful experiences etc. but here goes
We are looking for somewhere to go camping in mid-December for 10 days up to Christmas, not too far from Brisbane. Ideal requirements:
1. We like peace and quiet. No freight trains or sites next to Cunningham Hwy.
2. We like peace and quiet in the site, which is why we go when we do - typically most places are almost empty up to 24th / 25th.
3. We have a medium-duty off-road-ish Camper trailer towed by an AWD SUV (BMW X3), not a Landcruiser, so we need to be able to get there...
4. We like places where we can pull up, look around, and pick where looks nice under a nice tree etc., not be told - "That is your 3m by 3m space there".
5. We have shower capability, and was thinking about getting up portable loo capability this year, so are open to places that don't have them, but will need to top up water occasionally from a tap. Having said that if somewhere has toilets, then that could work ok.
6. Looking for somewhere ideally within 2 hrs of Bris. If it was perfect, maybe a little further.
7. Need room for some other families to join us for a few days.
So bring on the suggestions.
Places we have enjoyed in the past have been Bigriggen and Kenilworth (main drawcard for both of those was the open fields, just select a spot), but open to somewhere a little more remote as long as we can get there.
Suggestions?
