Highway Thunder 2014
« on: August 09, 2014, 03:25:00 PM »
For anyone around the Brisbane and Gold Coast area tomorrow that has nothing planned, come join in on Bravehearts annual drive (Highway Thunder) to help raise funds for a fantastic organisation that deals with helping sexually abused kids. You can drive anything you like, the family sedan, 4wd's, old classic cars, custom street machines, bikes, even trucks...it doesn't matter what you have, you can join in the fun of the day.
Details of the event are in this link http://www.whiteballoonday.com.au/pages/highway-thunder.php and any details you'd want to know about Bravehearts are in this one http://www.bravehearts.org.au/
Late notice i know, but anyone can rock up tomorrow morning at the 2 meeting departure  points and register for the drive...there'll be heaps for the kids to do, plenty of cars for the big kids to look at, and a great raffle drawn on the day with all proceeds going directly to Bravehearts aswell.
Hope to see some of you there, i'll be driving my Cruiser, so come and say gidday  8) 8)

few pics from today below......only myself and the youngest daughter went today, as the eldest daughter is onto her 3rd day of being sick....don't need that being spread around to everyone.

STARTED OUT AT YATALA DRIVE IN FOR MEET UP POINT

ENDED UP AT BROADWATER PARK ON THE GOLDCOAST AS THE DESTINATION POINT...that's not all the vehicles that were there on the day, there's plenty more i couldn't fit in that pic

.....probaly a better end location from a publicity point of view, but the old Parklands destination we used to use was easier for everyone to get into in the convoy formation due to no traffic lights being on that route. Couldn't use that location this year as it's being redeveloped for the Commonwealth Games at present, so broadwater Park it was this year. Eventually we all arrived there and parked up for the day, then it was straight onto the rides for the young one. This year we had to buy a rides pass ($10 for the day), previous years the rides have been included in the entry fee of the day ($15 this year), but that was not to be this year due to new costs involved in holding the event.

SPEED RACER

FACE PAINTING DONE FOR A GOLD COIN DONATION

DITTO WAS THERE ON THE DAY...Ditto does Bravehearts Keep Safe Adventure' Education Program for the little kids

THE RURAL FIRE BRIGADE WERE THERE LETTING KIDS HAVE A GO ON THE FIRE HOSE

MANAGED TO SIT DOWN FOR A SHORT WHILE AND HAVE A HOTDOG AND A DRINK

AND EVENTUALLY I GOT TO WANDER AROUND AND LOOK AT THE VARIETY OF CARS, TRUCKS AND BIKES ON DISPLAY

To top the day off i won 4 of the raffle prizes that were drawn on the day  8) 8) probably helped that i spent $50 on raffle tickets though...lol...but the money goes to a great cause, so it's a no brainer.

Good one Mal. Looks like it's getting bigger every year which is good, especially compared to the first one we did.

hopefuly they made some money today for the foundation...truth be told, it was a bit hard to work out how many vehicles were there all up as the venue was much smaller then previous years and looked to be busier, but maybe that was just everyone being crammed in closer together.
