T&R Camper Trailers

T & R Camper Trailers. I've tried a search on here but no luck. The Bride looked at one today and thought they looked alright.

I'm aware the trailer is Australian built and the top is Chinese.

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on them.

As for the size, there's many a night I've been kicked off the bed for my alcohol induced snoring. Some nights even slept in the car, some nights thought "eff it. I'll stoke up the fire and have another one and fallen asleep in the chair". A spare room will do nicely. I could bring the couch from home.

yea... but you gotta put it up in the first place! I think how much fun a 12ft tent is to put up in the pissin down rain.... :(

Nothing wrong with that! It would be perfect for a family of 12. Wouldn't take any longer than an hour an a half to setup.

I am pretty sure it's not just the tents that come from China, the trailers look like it also. One of their CT's is the same as my import. It would be interesting to see their prices for all of their CT's.
One of their claims on their website is that they are the fastest growing camper trailer manufacturer in
Australia. I am not disputing this statement but I have never heard of them until tonight.

T&R are very similar to a lot of other imported trailers. They are however a relatively new company. Depending on your location and what you intend to do, it might be worth looking at either a gal frame and chassis trailer or a good second hand Aussie trailer. However bang for buck you won't beat an import.

A 12ft tent shouldn't take more than 15min to set up.

Add an extra 10 for the annexe.

You would never loose this one in the bush. although you may loose some of the suspension. Prices are available on the camper pages

Agree, it wouldn't take that much longer to set up. Just means an extra beer or two. But I would only have to set the whole thing up if I have to.

When The Bride was having a look at it today, she was told the trailer was manufactured in Sydney and the canvas is imported. Yes, yes there's going to be those that say "He's a Salesman he'll say anything to get a sale"...blah blah blah....and true, they look similar to a PROVEN imported Chinese Camper, but anyone PROVE the trailer's imported too. So far all I can gather is they are an Australian built trailer, no ones showed me they aren't (not that I'm insisting someone does, but if someone does then cool bananas).

As for bang for buck - well if you buy cheap, no point in complaining if there's a few problems. I'm am prepared to replace the shocks though if they're average (expecting them to be) For us, it's our second Camper and the big money spender will be when the kids piss off and it's just myself and The Bride and a lazy dog.

I guess I won't ask what people think of Kia then.......

Still no proof that T & R isn't Australian made. Who's not to say T & R uses a similar Chinese design and got a "true blue Aussie" to weld it and construct it using better quality nuts and bolts etc?

Clearly theses trailers are imported. How do I know and how can I guarantee this? A few of my trailers come from the factory. Clearly you have been lied too.

Is that little bright orange pipe for water?? I can't see it lasting long offroad.

The tank itself looks fairly solid, but that water pipe is just waiting for trouble.

I had a look at T&R in Coopers Plains, Brisbane. Yes they are imported but "assembled" in Australia. The draw bar is bolted to the chasis, not welded. Very much the same as all the other cheaper CTs. I was quiet surprised with the trailer itself, the finishing touches seemed more complete than some other imported CTs.

Here's a deliberate ignorant question then:

What do you look for in an imported CT that sets it apart from the Aussie built ones?

I'm assuming things like welds, materials etc but are these parts that can be upgraded? ie the hose as mentioned above. Replace it with something more suitable. (aware of voiding of warranty - but we live 250km's from Adelaide and stuff doing a 500km round trip taking the camper all that way to have them replace the a crappy hose for example. I'd rather replace it myself with something better) I recall reading somewhere else here that someone bought a new imported CT and replaced the shocks with a well known brand. In the case of the the CT in question, is it possible to weld the draw bar to the Chassis?

How much is this trailer your looking at? I notice many *cheaper* trailers are rocketing up in price lately.

But I dont get the whole spend all that money to have to fix it gig.. it doesnt make sense. if its Galvanized I believe welding will screw it and you need to have it re-galvnaize... strip every part off it and send it away.

If you must by imported, look around for something of better quality. But as said earlier, you'd be better off even saving for another 6 months and buy a used aussie built.
Why not have a word to Nathan about his trailers and options, at least hes open and honest about things.
