What should I buy
« on: November 22, 2013, 10:18:05 PM »
My wife and I are in the process of buying a new toyota and are tossing up between a lc200 or a lc70 4 door ute.  We are going to be towing a track trailer topaz (pick up next year deposite down) and have 2 kids.  We will do some off road but not hard core stuff, we will go to places like cape york, kalumbaru and tracks around perth. Ive always had utes and like the practicabilty of a ute but the wife sits in a lc 200 and wants that.  Who is right?  In my head she is adorable but wrong. What do you think?

HWHL.

(Happy wife, happy life)  ;D

Whichever way, you're on a winner., but the 200 is a safer family vehicle, 5 star v 3 star.

It is hard to go past a 200 series for family touring IMO.

LC70, assuming you're thinking diesel is only a single turbo and a harsher, noisier ride than the twin turbo 200 Series.

Love my 200 Series, it's the nicest vehicle I've owned.

As a owner of a now 12 month 76 series wagon which I love, I would not hesitate in getting the 200 series. The 70 series vehicles are a truck and they ride like a truck. Do yourselves all a favour and get the 200.  ;D

One of the guys at work has had a 76 now owns a 200. He said that the76 is good to knock around on the tighter tracks because it's narrower and has less plastics. He loves his 200 ( and I do too, love mine ) because the 200 is so much nicer, better seating position, way more power, quieter and tows his boat a lot better.
Hope this helps.

I would love to have either vehicle but I can see advantages in the 200.

If you want a ute that has car creature comforts, have a look at the Amarok...

My wife didn't want a "BIG TRUCK THING" but after she sat in the Rok and realized it's like sitting in her Passat, it was a winner!

Good ride, great economy, and will tow 3 tonne all day...

We traded our 200 series for an Amarok, I love the Rok, the ute is great, fuel economy is awesome, tows well.... BUT the 200 series kicks the Roks backside to the moon and back for power, towing and sheer driving pleasure.

Although every time I went bush in the 200 series, I dinted it or some of the plastics broke. Maybe I am rough on my gear???? Apart from bush pin striping, the Rok has been pushed lots harder in the bush and has no damage. I found the 200 series a little 'soft' in its build.

In saying that, If I was you, I would go the 200 series. We did lots of k's with the four kids in comfort in it. The reason we swapped to the Rok was the kids stopped coming with us and the three dogs started coming along instead.

I really wish they would build a 200 series twin cab, I would buy one in a flash.

You seem to have decided

As a general comment, I wonder how a Iveco Daily 4X4 would go.  http://adtranstrucksnew.equipmentsales.com.au/equipment-detail?id=AG-AD-316140

Tough enough, same price range
