Camp recommendations
« on: September 26, 2013, 08:41:50 PM »
Ok swaggers, I need some help. Looking at camping spots for next weekend at either Molesworth, Murrindindi, Buxton or Murchinson area.
Any recommendations? Looking for a river side camp spot for some fishing and somewhere I can have a fire. Taking the mutt would be a bonus.........may even take the dog! >:D
Thanks in advance......... 8)

Rubicon, but fishing is hard as all the rivers up there are dirty.

thanks mate, I was worried about the river quality at this time of year. Are there any rivers in the area that won't be affected by snow ru off this time of the year from snow run off or am I dreaming?

You could try Maritz Bend out of Murchison. Never tried fishing there though.

Speewa's camp site for his get together last year just out of Nagambie I can't remember the name but it's in camps 6. It's on the river, you can have fires (byowood)  and it's very close to a couple of wineries

Drove up to Rubicon today Kendalls A was closed and gate shut. Kendalls B was open and almost full appears that "B" is the smaller of the 2 and some spots are right on the creek (If i was going to either it would be "B" goo luck

Drop in and see them when you're up there and buy some local flies.

I'd say A but haven't been up there for a while and given it is school holidays, good luck.

There is also Cathedral Ranges

We take off on Thursday hopefully. Young bloke has been coughing all day so we are waiting to see if he is OK. If he is still crook we may have to go soft and head into a caravan park so we can have power/heater. Stay tuned.............

Looks like its going to be 3deg. on Friday night so a Caravan Park it is. A bit of power and a heater make a huge difference. We have decided on Twin Rivers Breakaway in Acheron. Hopefully I can land a trout too.

Well happy to report twin rivers was a real hit. It's a great spot on the river with great park facilities. You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
We went down to Kendalls and had a look on the Saturday and had a quick look. As Peter mentioned the first camp was closed. The second(B?) was 70% full but pretty muddy. If I had to pick one of the two it would be the first as it looks a bit grassier and bigger. Such a beautiful area though and we will be back to explore for sure.

Couldn't get a bloody fish though!

Well done, the Breakaway is a great place. The fish are pretty smart there as that stretch of water gets flogged.

We went down to Kendalls ..... the first camp was closed.

Your weekend sounds good. Any idea why Kendalls A was shut, any sign on the gate? We go there a lot and would be good to understand why its closed.
Thanks,
Tony

I have no idea why it was closed as there was no signs etc. but the gate was locked. Look so beautiful and a great place to camp.
