Fitting of Pole carrier

I will finally be picking up my new Cub on Tuesday.
I wanted to do a few little mods to start off with then use it and work out what I may want.
One of the first jobs is to fit a pole carrier( Cub wanted abt $250 ).I thought I would go to Bunnings  for the 150mm pipe and the brackets. My only thought is the mounting of the brackets to the body.Not sure if I can get access to through bolt them .
Can you fellow Cub owners give me a heads up,please.

Hi Jeff,

Congratulations on joining the Cub Club.

NEVER NEVER mount the pole holder on the front (when closed)of the roof rack, the extra weight will bend the tent hoops when opening the tent.

Cub mount then on the back of the roof rack hinge end.

Several myswagers have bent tent hoops when opening the the Cub camper with extra weight on the front of the roof rack!!!

Yes a pole carrier is a great first mod.
Cub have them specially made and mount them without any penetration to the hard floor from the inside.
150mm PVC is not cheap to buy so do your homework first.
From what I have seen Cub's fit out does not take long and probably could be done on the day if you wanted to change your mind, just ask them as I think their service people are on site at the show room.

We have just made our own pole carriers for our camper (not a cub). It took about 5 hours, several trips to bunnings and cost around $130. If I paid both of us $20/hour the labour costs are $200 meaning the labour was super cheap and the pole carrier cost us upwards of $330. If your CT manufacturer has one available for just $250 then IMO get them to fit it and pay the money. You'll get a pole carrier that fits properly and is in the right spot as well as saving loads of time and energy. I would have paid for one if there had been one available

When you are making the PC remember to drill a hole at both sides to pass a wire or bolt through to stop the lid unwinding itself . Also get some underfelt sponge to line the lids at each end to stop the poles smashing the end out as you go around the corners . A Swagger lives in fear of being reminded of turning up to a catchup minus the poles , Very embarrassing indeed . At least it SNOW ,,,,wasn't ,forecast .   
 Theres a bit of science involved here
