Removing centre seats from Prado 120
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:17:15 PM »
We are thinking of removing the centre seats from the Prado for our upcoming trip to the Gulf.
Has anyone done this ?
We could fold them back, but as there is only 2 of us............the extra room would be handy.

Had a look, is there an easy way ? Guessing there are a couple of bolts under the hard plastic covers...but afraid that we will break those covers..........

thanks in advance..

We have taken the rear passenger seats out, sort of semi permanently and built some draws for the areas. In qld you can get it recertified to only the front seats but then if you wanted to put them back in for resale you have to get it recertified to how it was originally. You can take them out temporally as long as you plan to put them back in. The plan might be a few years later  ;D but its a plan. If you are in qld there is a link on the Department of Transports website about it.

i used to do it in my patrol for a long tour. very handy having the extra space if you know you don't need the seats. would recommend it

If you use some proper trim removal tools, which you can buy for $20 - $30 from any good auto store, you won't break the hard plastic. The hard plastic trim is held on with little clips, which are replaceable. They are designed to be removed safely.

Just don't use a screwdriver or hammer.

Alternatively find the workshop manual on eBay for your parado as there will be by step instructions on how to remove almost any part of the car.
