Can't be that bad Mark - after all it's now 5PM Friday. Everything looks better on Friday afternoon.

Spoke to them today and showed them the other quotes. The owner was not there but another worker said he will look after me. Will update once I have some more news.

Update.

Cruiser has the new motor in and just being tested at the moment by the mechanic.

Goes in to get the new air conditioner compressor and should be ready to pick up Friday.

Still waiting for the bill but it should be competitive.

when you pick it up check to see if they have included a cooling system service and maybe a fuel delivery service as most engine reconditioners speculate that they must be done as warranty may be void.

With the 4.5L petrol own thing that can catch people out if changing or replacing the coolant. These motors are prone to getting an airlock and do whilst they seem to be full of coolant they aren't, get hot, crack the head.

Solution is to fill it with the front end elevated a bit.

Good luck Mark, you know you've got a good'un now.

It's a problem with quite a few cars, radiator below the heads and heater hoses.

Get youself one of these radiator funnels to help bleed the system.  Locks on over the radiator cap, spill free filling and allows you to fill up past the highest point of the cooling system to bleed it.  Also has a plug for the funnel so you can remove it when full.

Just got a call from the mechanic . The cruiser is at the air conditioner place and I have been advised that the condenser has corroded and will need to be replaced. All up for the air cond being fixed is $1500.  The pain of it all.  I told the mechanic to have sympathy on me when he gives me the total bill and also have paramedics on standby  :'(

Hi Mark,

Well done, the price may not feel right but the feeling you get when the cruiser is going well make up for it. My old girl is still giving me a few problems, will still try to make Normanton though.

cheers duggie
