Geez, its all happening this week.
Front seat for the Corona went to Tin Can Bay on Monday to have some repairs done while i waited.
An hour later, and the mate has done a great job, rather than just repair the 3 inches of stitching, its been fully stitched in every direction and looks as good as the day it left the factory.
Now, it was a 620 klm round trip and the cost to fix, $30.00.... yep...$30.00. I gave him $40.00 and 100 game lotto entry for Saturday night that we are going halfs in if we win anything over a $1,000. Everyone is happy.
The seat went back in Tuesday.
On the trip to Brisbane 2 weeks back, the little turd ran warm all the way there and all the way home.
Never boiled, lost no fluids.
When I checked the cooling system,
It just didn't seem to have much flow.
I began pissing around with thermostats, even removing the guts of one and still stuff all flow.
And, now its gurgling water out when its running and the temp has begun to spike all of a sudden.
Pulled the water pump and the impeller had fallen off.
Got a new pump from Autopro Gatton and thought, better check this.
Sure enough, i could turn the impeller on the shaft.
This was a GMB brand pump too, so a decent brand.
The good folks at Autopro Gatton, ordered in every water pump the supplier had to suit the car. We went through 4 pumps before i found one i was happy with. So we now have a cooling system that runs at 75c (170f) and it was mid 30's, so a good chance to test.
During the last couple of days (except Mon), i've had the carby off and on maybe 6 or 8 times.
I've modded the pump plunger arm, for a fuller squirt.
I've raised the float level by 2mm and the secondarys, which didn't work, now work and has a slightly lighter spring in it.
I've just dicked around with it a lot.
It just seemed like the engine wanted more fuel, so we gave it some and holy Shit, it now goes like an 18R should.
If i've buggered up anything, its now slightly harder to start when warm, as you don't need much throttle and i've flooded it twice now.
I may need to back off the plunger arm a tad yet.
Due to the wait for the water pump, i've only done 250 miles (400klm), but its behaving itself really well.
Its a nice car to drive.
I'm off to Ipswich in it today for the paint to be colour matched.
The forecast is for 39 degrees here today, it will be a great day to test it again. (i have no doubt it will run a cool temp)
