I've got a close up pic of today's welds for critique but photobucket is stronger than Vb.  ???

Looks good be interesting to see the finished product.

Making up doors and drawer faces for my outdoor area.
Natural edged River Red Gum.
Gonna have 0.9mm stainless sheet inserts to go with BBQ and have bit of an industrial look about it.

First time Ive done natural edge style, very fiddly and time consuming, but its only work if you dont like doing it.

Cheers Glen

That is going be one heavy duty bench.

The white one was made for an artisans challenge and then was going to be a fund raiser for a niece and isn't needed now. After next weekend I may sell it.

If you are in Toowoomba next weekend I will have it at Cobb + Co Museum.

Ray

@Ray. Your posted pics didn't load up last night but mate that is some sensational work there.👍👍
Is the white one for sale?

@Glen. Interesting idea mate. Love the rustic industrial look, right up my alley.
Would going to a lighter guage stainless with a ply backing save some dollars or have you already got the sheet?

@Snapman. Awesome progress today on your fabrication bench getting the base frame and castors finished and primed.👍👍 😁
Welds improved today. Turned the settings on the welder down a bit and slowed my speed plus the wind was a bit more friendly.
Token beer shot;

Current weight as seen in the pic is 95.1kg plus the welds. Seemed a lot heavier when I rolled it down the drive a bit to get it on the lawn for painting.😱

Ok I need some advice.
I'm intending to fully weld the vertical legs but I'm concerned with what happens to the hot air when the last bit seals it air tight.

Am I effectively building a pipe bomb or do I not need to worry about it? Do I need to drill a hole in it to relieve the pressure?

No need to worry about it, unless your going to get it hot galvanize dripped. Then all sections must have an open end or 5?mm holes drilled in sealed sections.
There's a big difference between kneeling down

As Glenm64 said, but if you have trouble welding because of the pressure inside drill a 3/16 hole and when you've finished welding, weld the hole up.

Might have to hire a trailer and clean out  the spare rooms of the  house too while the missus is at work .Time to sort and cull the useen and unused ..

Got all the welding on the sub frame of my fabrication bench done and primed. As it sits in the pic it weighs in at 174kg. All 5mm walled shs and angle with 6mm plate.

With all the light stuff done it's time to get serious and start adding a heavy duty top with some real weight.

Hey Paul

Is that a firepit in the middle of the front yard?  :D

It wasn't till you mentioned it FSS! ;D
It lines up dead centre with the 8ft front doors so that from inside when both doors are open they frame the tree that should be there. We had a  newish poinciana planted there as memorial for the Fatman when he passed. I nurtured that tree for 18 months, sculpting it to grow the way I wanted then in the second year it starts to flower, the flowers are purple, fkn jacaranda, Ross Evans replace it with a new poinciana that dies from a fungus 6 months later the fkn's! I should be in the rant thread I think. Anyway, got a new frangipani to go in there but need about 1.2m3 of soil for it but I also need anther 4m3 for other gardens I'm building and I'm to tight to pay two deliver fees.

174 kg's,!you sure, just a suggestion, fit four wind down legs on the corners,22 mm all thread with a nut welded on top for ring spanner or socket as a wind up/ down handle through a 22mm nut welded to lower part of frame, you will find the castors will move a bit when you're working even when locked.
Ps,like the stubby holder too,go bombers ( what ever it takes)

The math is good bruz.👍
Agree with the castors. I'm already thinking about using some cheap hydraulic car jacks. Even though I went with all locking but it was a compromise, the missus reckons we still need the kitchen and I shouldn't knock the back wall out of the garage to extend it. If I had the space this would've been bolted to the floor in the middle of my 15x9x4.8 shed with mezzanine and a stripper pole.
The work top is gonna be a mission to get it on. 6 lengths at 1200 of 250PFC at 35.7kg/m. Then the outrigger table. Total weight at a guess should be around the half tonne.
Started out as a $200 project with no financial control that's now gonna hit close to a grand. Told the misses it's only gonna cost $40 a year with all money paid up front.😁

Paul
