Bent up a couple of racks to hold the kayaks up.  Thats two less things on the floor.  Now for some shelves for the rest of the newly acquired camping gear, chairs, tables, tent for the kids etc etc etc.

Spent the day in my mates man cave doing a diff rebuild.

Heard a whining noise in the Hilux on the way home from work and thought it was the bearings in the gearbox.  The next morning it turned into a lovely crunching sound, then a lot of clattering.
Think this had something to do with it...

$1,400 for a changeover centre or $600 for a rebuild kit with Japanese bearings and gears.  Went the $600 option, never rebuilt a diff before, how hard could it be... Figured I can stuff it up once and still be $200 in front ;D

All good so far, rebuilt and dry assembled.  Just got to go in tomorrow and check the pinion bearing preload, strip, install the pinion crush tube reassemble and install.  Fingers crossed.

I forgot how much old diff oil stinks!

It's allot easier than I first thought, especially when you've got access to a workshop with all the correct gear.
Not the black art that most make it out to be.  At least Hilux diffs anyway.

Not in the man cave but in the shed we put up for the horse gear. The other half (lino6) built a stand for the saddles I gave some assistance and painted the inside of the cupboard in there to hopefully make it last longer. Very happy with how it came up

;D I am not sure if these would be a good idea for bar stools not sure it would hold someone sitting on it on the stand lol.  It will be great to have all the horse stuff in one place instead of bits and pieces everywhere and having it near the round yard.

All back together and on the road.  Preload and backlash are on the high side of the tolerance range, but just within specs. Gave the ring gear a coat of bearing blue and have nice meshing.

No dramas after a short 20 minute run, but I'll leave it with my mechanic mate to run it in.
Given that I travel to work for 30 minutes on a freeway and 20 minutes of heavy stop start stuff in the CBD.

Cleaned mine out, rearranged some shelving, moved said shelving, threw out plenty of hunt hat had been building up. Ended up with a lot more room. Camper fits in better, kids bikes are more accessible for them and I have my work bench back so very happy

Didnt have any birthday pressies to put away in there this year, so I will have to go shopping and buy them myself next time I am in the big smoke.

What I did was paint my bullbar, part of the side rails, and flares in a nice shiny black paint that I got for free from my paint supplier.. Apparently it was a off tint. I like it.

Started to clean up to make a bit of room and wondered past the swamp fridge and thought a beer would help.
That just led to the idea of starting the fire just out side. Now few beers latter and good part of bottle rum latter the swamp is a still mess less half of the good hard wood.
Now just waiting for the better half to get home and ask what I have been doing all day.
Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

Packed the trailer up from the easter break, and took it in to get the flyscreen on the door replaced down at Ozzie Campers in Somerville... Hope it works out!

Cleaned out the garage, hung the kayaks up in the workshop as they won't get used for a few months. Then rolled the Down Under Camper into the garage out of the rain so I can pack it ready for our trip.

Cleaned aired and completely dried my Central coast Camper after a month on the road.

Sydney, Albury, Ballarat, Portland, Apollo Bay, Rosebud, Lakes Entrance, Eden, South Durass (Batemans Bay) and many other places on the way, then home to Sydney.  Had a great time, first long trip with camper which performed outstandingly.

Can't wait for next trip - Cape York 2015 (without CT), six week trip.
