Yes, setting up a vehicle can be expensive but having said that, many of us do go overboard, myself included. Below are the extras I have fitted but I could do the same things I do with no where near the stuff I have fitted. This is also the strong reason why I am very reluctant to sell the truck even though I never use it to it's potential anymore.......All I say is, think about extras and think do you really need it. My mistake was always yes when it should have been NO....:-)

So Teabag,

What would you definately do the next time around? Rather than what you would leave out.

I would keep it simple and only do what is really needed. Compromise between daily driver and tourer. I'm carting around soooooooo much shyt that isnt really needed, even camping.....:-)

Would not do rear draws, winch, rear bar as examples.....:-)

It all adds up.
I have a spreadsheet with the actual cost and the future cost for items I want to add to my car.  ;D
As of now I have only invested around $3,500 in the car. That is including selling stuff like fog lights after adding the bullbar and selling roofrack from previous car.
But what I still want is lots more.

Here's my D-Max figures so far -
LS-M D-Max , Canopy , Bullbar , side steps/sliders,rear bar ,UHF ,brake controller ,8 wheels and tyres ( 3 for CT ) ,rear drawers and fridge roughly $56000.00
I say roughly as there are a few additions and subtractions for OEM wheel buyback etc ..
So my addons are $16000 worth ..
But I will have a great looking truck/CT combo that will go anywhere I can ..

Going back to basics - sort of ...

I have been reading this http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0  thread just for fun and was just wondering what would the costs be in an equivalent model toyota or mitsubishi ? And no,I'm not looking to replace the old "jacka" yet

Mate, just refirbish the 'Jacka' and do the add-ons!
