Hi We have owned and been avid campers for 10 yrs and have just completed our 3rd big trip 6 weeks/6500kms Darling Riv run/ Broken Hill/Kangaroo Island/Murry River / NSW sth Highlands and back to the Sunny coast
the main reason Ive registered is that we have been pushing our road camper to the limit's and now i want to build my own TVan type camper and as I am ex fitter/Welder think if i plan it properly it should be achievable.
We like to keep everything simple no fancy heavy S/Steel kitchens no Nasa type electrical systems and No Computers whilst travelling.
We have an end fold with two 50 watt solar panels running a 100amp hr Full river battery (Camper)which has only ever been solar charged ,our tow vechile is now a 2002 3tbHilux tray back with Ali/RHS steel canopy and a dual battery setup that has a Marine 720 deep cycle/start battery under the tray.
On our last trip all batteries dropped to only 12.70 volts min for the whole trip, lighting Ive thrown my gas lights away and use a 18w LED work light from ABR Sidewinder I carry two but have never had to use the second.
Cooking is done on a 20yr old Jackeroo 3 burner and dishes our washed in a red pastic bucket any way that's what we are about and I hope to be able to advise of my progress of the camper build once I get it cranked up in the meantime i have alot of drawings to do and weights to work out.
