Hi everyone.
We're thinking about selling the camper trailer and getting a small Jayco (Finch/Swift/Flite size) and we've seen a few adds around for older ones in (supposedly) good condition.
We've looked at the new ones and can't afford one, but can't find a whole lot of info on the older stuff.
What do we need to know and look out for if we find something well looked after, but 2000ish or older.
We don't want or need anything flash, but it would need to be an Offroad/Outback to get to my usual hunting and fishing spots.
Nothing serious offroad, just dirt road touring stuff, so any info or experiences would be appreciated.
A bit of a search has realy only shown that if you own a Jayco you love them , but if you own something else you don't ......  ;D

I don't have a heap to tell you but I learned a bit about the things that go wrong with older Jayco's by reading the rebuild threads on Jaycos on this forum.

In summary, the chassis can get bent, the wood in the floor and walls can rot due to water ingress. Canvas replacement is expensive (eg 2.5k and up).

I am not sure when they started making "offroad/outback" Jaycos but I think it was after the 80's and potentially late 90's.

The are not as many of the small old Jayco's around compared to the swan size. However, I have seen a few of the older small ones upgraded into more offroad capable units.

G'day Tim,
Our Swan is an 87 model, most of the windup mechanics is the same, Same Face different Eyebrows  ;D
