Insurance Brokers
« on: July 06, 2012, 01:14:23 PM »
Can anyone recommend one?

I am sick of chasing and comparing insurance quotes, and switching from one main stream insurer to another for each individual policy to save a few dollars.
Will a broker be cost effective and make things simplier? I have rarely needed to claim anything so I can't comment on this side of it but wouldn't a broker take care of the claim making that end easier too?

I need insurance for cars, boat, home etc. Just basic non buisness things.

Any advice much appreciated.

We use DGA brokers. Have been with them for 5 years and we have made a few claims with no problems. Give them a try we use them for both cars and camper insurance.

x2

We changed the car and camper from RACV to DGA prior to the Cape trip. Have not made a claim, yet.

The DGA policy covers full on and off road driving anywhere in Aust with no restrictions. THIS INCLUDES RIVER CROSSINGS, SAND DUNES, BEACHES ETC.

RACV cover you anywhere in Australia, but there is an "Improper Usage" clause at the end of the policy.
If they decide you have been "wilful and reckless", there is no cover...........

Cheers,
Geoff

Thanks for the tip on DGA. I have sent them an email to see what they can offer me.

Do you pay them a seperate fee, or is it included in the individual policy cost?

Hi,
I used to use a broker for insurance. However every few years he would change companies for various reasons, and I would be left with a bit of heavy reading to see if the policy still covered all I wanted it to.
In the end I got sick of it, and after some very considerate treatment from the RACT over a vehicle  third party property claim, we moved every thing over to them and got a good deal by bundling every thing into one policy with only one premium per year.

cheers

Does anyone else have anything to ad regarding their experience with brokers?
Or have any brokers to recommend I that I try for a quote?

I'm with DGA and have been for nearly 10years. I have had 2 claims which where very easy to get sorted, no issues. The major underwriter is Alliance but was CGU prior and claims under both handled very well, no forms, just all on the phone.

My premium is $757.26 with full comprehensive and every extra listed on the policy and I mean every extra is covered. Excess is $400
2006 GU4 4.2TDi Patrol with many goodies. Currently no camper but have had a Customline Camper, Kimberly Kamper and Jayco Hawk....Tenting and Swagging it now..

Price sound reasonable, and if the service is good what more can you ask for??

Do you have anything else with them or just the truck?

I'm hoping to find someone to take care of all my policies.

No, just the Patrol. I used to be with AON Risk Services but they stopped the specific 4wd cover. Still have house and contents with them though.......When you make a claim you have nothing to do with DGA, it is all done by the underwriter which for the DGA 4wd Coverage it is currently Alliance.....DGA just charge a $55 policy fee which goes directly to them.......The rest of the policy is paideia monthly to underwriter.....I have been more than happy with the level of service......TCIS is another that specialise in 4wd specific cover.....
