WTF?! That is absolutely bloody disgraceful. I keep looking at those spikes the girl in the pic is holding, and I imagine my one of my girls or my wife stepping on them....... the family in the story are very lucky. I cannot believe someone would do something like that. The sick perverted ****s who made these probably enjoy it. Pricks.

This story has been around for about 2 years, The scary thing is if someone trod on one of them there would be serious injuries and then what about emergency vehicles?

It's rumoured to be environmentalists trying to stop 4wd's accessing the beach.

a similar situation was found at colo reserve not to long ago. broken bottles were found buried in the sand sharp jagged edges up waiting for a foot to come along. greg the then ranger found them before someone was hurt.

What happened to chaining yourself to a gate or something? There are much better ways of getting your point heard than injuring people and damaging property.

It's rumoured to be environmentalists trying to stop 4wd's accessing the beach.

There was talk of them digging and concealing deep trenches across 4WD access routes as well. Deep and wide enough to bring a 4WD to a dead stop.

Digging a big hole and getting branches and such to conceal it seems a bit counter productive on the whole environment thing though.  I heard it from a few different people, but only one that claimed to have seen it in person, and with that bloke I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a normal wash away and he was trying to cover for the fact he was going too fast and didn't see it so just added himself to the rumour to make it seem like it was less his fault.

Omg that is so horrible! Makes me sick to my stomach. I'm always a bit freaked out thinking there might be needles and stuff in the sand, let alone purposely made traps designed to hurt people on purpose!
