Well I went today.

After nearly being short changed at the entrance to pay I ventured to the campers, boats and caravan section.

Caravan displays by cub and jayco while camper trailer displays by MDC , trackabout , Kimberley kampers, savannah , camel and other brands. It's a little muddy so be prepared.

MDC, market direct campers have got some bargain campers from $6,999 and should get a few sales. Spoke to a young guy at MDC , being a bit smart saying he is heading to the Cape with 4wd Action soon for 3 weeks testing his campers. He said there are about 8 cars heading up.  That all I said well I am leading a group of 26 and his jaw dropped.

Other stalls are the usual all trying to sell you something. Korr lighting was there.

I looked at those thermo cookers were there but could not justify $200 plus for them.

I did not see any bargains that grabbed me so no one got my money.

I had a chat to a lady at the national parks stand about the new camping rules about booking. She said a lot of people have been complaining. I asked what the idea was and she said to make it easy to book so there are spots available and they will be having touch screens set up in the future. I asked her has she ever been there and she said no. I said in a nice calm mature way that it was a ridiculous idea and she smiled and said hers a brochure  ;D

Worth $8 to get in, no !! But I seem to go every year  ;D

We drove past today and were certainly unimpressed by what we could see from outside. We went a couple of years ago and felt there was very little there to interest us. That was pre CT but post travelling Australia initial talks, so we knew a little bit about what we were after....

I guess Morag and I are lucky in the respect that we are always looking for something for Nav, the ct or the house.
We have scored very well over the years of the show.
A couple examples.
One year I got the show special on tyres for Nav (ordered them while at the show) and saved $50 per tyre plus free mount, balance and disposal of my old tyres.
Another year we bought some stuff for renovating our house and saved a few hundered dollars.
Last year we saved over $1000.00 on our solar because we had booked an appointment while at the show.
So we will definatly be there Sunday looking for more stuff that we may or may not need...

We want to do a few upgrades around the house, so there was a couple of exhibitors that were useful. We thought the Kimberly Kampers were Kool. I liked the 5th wheeler they had there, but why is it that caravan decor is stuck in the 70s? Not just the 5th wheeler, but all of them. $70k+ for a smartish unit, and they just feel cheap, flimsy, and dated.

A couple of interesting comments from CT exhibits. At the Trackabout display, the chap mentioned how many people had offered good wishes about Trackies coming back and added how they'd said "At least it's not imported crap." A short while later, we were poking around the MDC display when we overheard one of the fellows telling some people how they had fired some people at the warehouse and all QC is being done by one person now. I guess MDC is trying hard to shed the "imported crap" stigma by lifting their standards. The new walk through model even has Aussie canvas. I'm not sure I'd want to do extreme off-roading with an MDC, but as a beefed up medium duty CT, they're packing a lot of stuff in for the money.

Getting stiffed $6 for two plain ice cream cones was a bit rich. Otherwise, we didn't go with too many expectations. We weren't disappointed but weren't overly excited either.
